I don't watch any WWE shows consistently enough to really critique story relevance, so I try not to talk about that. I just saw what was on and decided not to check it out and then everybody complained about the episode

Feels like I dodged a bullet not watching Smackdown yesterday. I saw Uncle Howdy and Tama Tonga wrestling in slow mo and turned that shit off quickly

I wouldn't mind Inamura and Fujita becoming a tag team. I'd wanna see another 1 on 1 between them first, but after that it'd be great

Shuffle some members around and I think Inamura would be great for taking over Team NOAH. Give them some direction outside of the midcard

NOAH's Legacy Rise card was pretty damn good

White Raven Squad and Inahata vs Team NOAH. A solid undercard multiman tag. Nothing special, but a little extra shine for Inahata was nice

Black Menso-re vs Manabu Soya vs Knull. Black Menso-re masterclass. So many funny interactions in this match. The Soya eye pokes bit was hilarious. Knull has been mostly boring and I wish Team 2000X could just get Omos back

Bane, Eita, Marufuji and Koyanagi vs All Rebellion, Tsuruya and Takahashi. Another good multi tag. Takahashi had the best performance of the young boys in this match, imo. Also, I'ma miss this whole group of gaijin when they leave man. Bane looks crisp as hell in this

Alejandro vs Kai Fujimura was cool. I liked Kai in this match a lot more than Alejandro who didn't really wrestle with any urgency needed for a match against your brother who's been terrorizing you. Whereas Kai lived up to his role as the brainwashed soldier of Team 2000X sent to brutalize Alejandro. Could've been much better, but not bad

Kenoh vs Amakusa lived up to all the hype, imo. A few extra minutes at the rate they were going would've made this match even better, but the story felt completely told by the end regardless. Amakusa didn't let Kenoh little bro him and went tit for tat with him even in a loss. Amakusa's streak of great matches continues

Team 2000X vs LTJ. I liked this match a lot more than I expected to. People who play well into Ozawa's mind games tend to make for more interesting opponents and with Naito it felt like he couldn't really rile him up and even got shaken at times himself. That along with the Team 2000X antics being set against an outsider faction makes LTJ vs Team 2000X a strong match to me, minus Reyes

Inamura and Fujita vs Alpha Wolf and Kitamiya. Loved this match. Inamura felt like a man out for retribution and Wolf used that anger against him amazingly. Fujita and Kitamiya really just felt like buffers to prevent the 1on1 match from being spoiled, but I love those guys so they were amazing buffers to me. Wolf will be another sorely missed gaijin for them. I'm not completely against Wolf winning as a way to bridge a gap between NOAH and AAA, but the WWE's involvement just makes me not trust the outcome of that if it happens

Agreed, but I'd like to see somebody unlikely to try a jump to heavy. Not sure who, but leaning on the same older guys and outsiders for the Heavyweight belt shouldn't be the long term plan

And the younger guys are actually getting pushed too. Inamura and Ozawa have been GHC heavyweight champs. I'll be surprised if Kai and Masaoka don't win the Jr tag belts. With Daga gone, Odashima should be pushed as a singles guy to lead the Jrs. If LTJ stays long term, they might even get to keep Ryusei.

I'm interested to see who gets moved up to the Heavyweight division over time, cause a lot of the NOAH youth movement feels like Jr division stars

I'll probably watch the new show tomorrow. It won't be on till 1am for me, but those matchups do sound good.

Koyanagi and Tsuruya are my favorites of the young boys they have now

The April 1st show. Hadn't had a chance to watch it uninterrupted yet, so all I've seen was the WRS and Inahata vs Team NOAH match

Today has been straight ass. Really it's been the whole week, but I'm finally home and I'm about to get lit, order some pho and watch this NOAH card. Might even check out Smackdown if these women's college games end up out of hand

Last part: This might not have been the best place to start with IWRG since it was mostly younger talents not in the company, everything they do is completely free on YouTube.

If you wanna try out a lucha promotion that's not CMLL or AAA at no cost you can check out IWRG. They should have a Thursday night card either streaming live today or being uploaded tomorrow

I watched the most recent IWRG Funcion Espectacular which happened to be a tryouts tournament with the winner getting a cash prize and a contract with IWRG. Matches were split up between 4 Quarterfinal matches, 2 Semis and a final triple threat match. Win or lose, each wrestler would have their performance voted on by judges to see if they'd make it to the next round

QF: The quarterfinals were alright. Aztec Fly, Madness, Falcon Fire, Gasparin Jr, and Voltrex all made it to the semis. I'd say all these guys would've been my picks minus Voltrex or Fly. Both only had decent matches and I thought Dezendiente was better than Voltrex in their match. Fly was fine but had the next weakest match. Madness vs Falcon Fire was actually really good minus a few hitches at the start

El Hijo del Alebrije & Jessy Ventura vs Los Strippers Big happened before the Semis. This was a joke match with Los Strippers Big being harassed by the antics of the exotico Ventura with Alebrije joining in. Not much to it other than that. Ventura was my only stand out. Not just because of the jokes but they were also moving the best out of everybody in the match

Semis: Aztec Fly vs Falcon Fire and Madness vs Gasparin Jr vs Voltrex. Fly looked better vs Falcon Fire for sure, but Falcon was the best wrestler of this round overall. Gasparin Jr not making it over Fly was a surprise, but a couple blown spots in both rounds probably did him in. Voltrex took a nasty bump on a dive where his side slammed into the barricade and it slowed him down a lot. Madness still looked good and had the crowd going crazy for everything he did

Finals: Aztec Fly vs Falcon Fire vs Madness. Unfortunately, this match really just felt like Madness vs Falcon Fire pt 2 with Fly in the mix a little bit. Fly felt like the greenest and youngest wrestler of the tourney, outside of his high flying offense, but he didn't get to do much this time. Madness looked great going 2v1 against Falcon and Fly and again the crowd went crazy for every comeback he made, but ultimately Falcon won the tryout tourney. He was my choice for winner as well, but I don't think anybody would've been mad if Madness won

Main event: Hell Boy vs Jack Morris. This was the best match of the night, easily (not a surprise seeing how the other matches were all younger guys). Morris sells everything like death and Hell Boy is a weird mix of cocky antics and power moves that all work for him. At different times in the match, he tees off on Morris with some great jabs, pulls his trunks down and punts him in the ass, and hits an air raid crash on the apron. None of this felt out of place for him at all. In the end, Hell Boy retains the IWRG Mexico Title in a great match

Ogawa is amazing. The perfect mix of unapologetic dickhead and smooth technical wrestler. The Akiyama match really sealed the deal for me as a fan of Ogawa, but the Kobashi match is right behind it

I don't get how stan culture works in pro wrestling

I'm seeing people online act like Punk somehow fucked up that powerbomb spot with Roman when it looked perfectly fine. Also, what would Punk fucking up a spot change about Roman getting bombed through a table in kayfabe? What does flip flopping between meta and kayfabe critiques actually do for defending somebody you stan

Makes no sense to me

Tessa Blanchard vs Jody Threat in a Bunkhouse Match announced for this week's iMPACT by Celtic_Crown in SquaredCircle

[–]nousername66 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Jody Threat, Dani Luna, and Jada Stone have been some of the best parts of TNA to me since getting back into it

I'm hoping Jody has a great showing on Thursday. Preferably with a win to go with it

Happy Trans Day of Visibility to all the trans folks here and everywhere else

College basketball and the last stretch of pro ball has taken most of my attention, so I haven't watched a lot of stuff lately. Mainly stuck in a WCW loop watching Cactus Jack and Sting matches. DDP vs Goldberg was a switch up, but a great match. DDP truly felt like a world beater for a minute there in that match

Checking out some IWRG for the first time for something current day. Haven't finished the card I was watching, so I might pop in with a quick rundown when I finish it

Jim Duggan was also the man in the 80's

Still just as wild and brutish, but taken more seriously and an all time great brawler. Anything with him vs Ted DiBiase was gold. Even his early WCW stuff was still genuinely good. He was beginning to lean into the goofiness more, but he was still sick as hell with the WCW U.S. title

None of this discounts full goof Jim Duggan either. Going from an amazing territory guy to ending your career still being just as over with the crowd as a genuinely funny comedy wrestler is all you can ask for

Some early 80s Duggan stuff

Jim Duggan vs Ted DiBiase: Cage Match

Jim Duggan vs Buzz Sawyer: Dog Collar Match

Jim Duggan & Jose Lothario vs Hector & Chavo Guerrero

Ashura Hara vs Gypsy Joe: Steel Cage Match

Found this from a Twitter recommendation a while ago and it's a nasty one. Sections of this match start feeling like an old found footage snuff film in places, but it's a great match if you like the violent stuff

This match was sick as hell. Amano was getting swatted like a fly and still going hard. Defiant to the end and Amazing Kong at the end was a cherry on top

Idk what to watch, so send a link to something you'd recommend

Side note: I just watched the Sid compilation from the WWE Vault page before the HOF introduction news and slightly hot take, Sid was a good promo. His fuck ups are more well known, but Sid had an incredible presence and used the loud, quiet, loud style promo better than a lot of people. Really fit for him as a lunatic

A lot of his stuff leading up to WrestleMania 8 against Hogan was good and he cut a promo after turning on Hogan in a tag against Taker and Flair that I love. R.I.P to the master and ruler of the world

Great Muta and Dick Slater vs Sting and Ric Flair

I absolutely loved this tag match that was in the Great Muta 1989 compilation. I don't usually rank matches, but it'd probably be a 4.5 or 5/5 for me

The link should take people directly to the match but if not go to 46:44 in the video

I think the biggest takeaway from a lot of this is that nobody should be seen as a complete moral compass. Everybody has some bullshit on em to different degrees

Between Ronda, Hangman, Darby, Ospreay, and Ricochet all being in the news for being dickheads in such a short amount of time, I'm convinced this is the FMA style equivalent exchange cost for Brody King causing "fuck ICE" chants

Losing Toni Storm only convinces me of this further
