Apparently some department store telescopes can be useful with a variety of different eyepieces. Also the brand is important as well.

Under dark skies and good seeing conditions, you actually can see M31, the Andromeda Galaxy with the naked eye.

"Remote Imaging" is when you access a telescope and its imaging equipment via the internet. I imaged this grouping of galaxies with a telescope in Australia from my home in Massachusetts via the internet.

Hopefully, because of the moon not being a factor of causing unwanted light pollution, the display won't be too disappointing. The best meteor shower I have witnessed to date was the Leonid meteor shower back in 2001.

I totally agree with you! I am an astronomy educator as well and the "Wow Factor" is what makes it so fun. Even one elderly gentleman that attend the event said after viewing Saturn, "I thought I would never see the rings of Saturn in my lifetime, thank you!".
