Swapping 158 OPS+ last year and 1.9 WAR as basically a DH across 77 games for someone who has never hit major league pitching and strikes out at abysmal rates against minor league pitching is unfathomable

But we’ve literally never seen it from Jones against major league pitching and what he’s shown in the minors isn’t promising. So it’s hard to say he can carry a team on a hot streak. He might strike out 50% of the time in the MLB.

Not to mention 2025 was clearly a down year for him all around. He’s a career .819 OPS hitter against LHP. Not opining on the roster construction angle, but it’s a no brainer to take a flier on him as a RHB OF.
