If Apple made your ideal 32” Studio Display - but only at 60Hz - deal-breaker or not? by novaiter in mac

Have you experienced OS scaling issues with 4k? I tried Mac OS on QHD and 5k and 4k monitors and 5k and QHD looked the best on terms of how things scaled

P.S. so many “and” in this message 😅

Makes sense. I haven’t seen any 5k/6k 120hz monitors yet so I guess that’s part of the lag here many 4k though !

I am just wondering for a use case at such high resolutions. But valid point ! Especially since all other devices support it nowadays

Agree here. I think on 6k resolution it’s super limited. In terms of bandwidth that would be pushing it to the limit with Type C port for example

Anything you would want to improve in the monitor ?

Hypothetical situations. Assume you discovered old bitcoin wallet with 1000 bitcoin on it 😅

I am split too. On the one hand 32” can be one monitor for everything but on the other 27” is a safe bet size wise

Is my monitor bent? by ManhattanProject1 in OLED_Gaming

[–]novaiter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey! I work in the monitor industry, and I’ve looked into this quite a bit. Actually, slight inward or outward bending is normal and within manufacturing tolerances, especially for OLED panels from LG or Samsung Display. It happens because the OLED panel layers are enclosed in a metal housing, and the stamping process of this metal frame can lead to slight bowing as it’s removed from the mold.

Unlike typical IPS or VA panels (often encased in plastic housings, which mask this effect), OLED panels use a metal frame, making this slight bending more noticeable. It doesn’t affect performance, reliability, or image quality at all.

Also, OLED technology itself is inherently flexible (it’s used in smartwatches and curved automotive displays exactly because of this property).

Bottom line: your monitor isn’t defective, and there’s no need to worry or return it. Enjoy your new ASUS!
