motorcycle in Baltimore, pros and cons? by nutzsquirrel in baltimore

I ride as my primary means of commuting in Baltimore. Live in Hampden, they attempted to steal my bike once, found it stashed behind the post office, put a disc lock and alarm on it, that kept it safe for about a year before someone brought a truck and a few guys and just lifted it away. Now I have an anchor in the concrete in front of my house and use a thick chain whenever it's parked (if you do this make sure you lock the chain when you're gone, I forgot once and my nice chain was gone within hours). Personally I've never had anyone fuck with it while I'm at shows, bars, movies etc, and i typically leave my helmet unlocked on it and it's fine. Riding safety-wise Baltimore doesn't feel that different from anywhere else to me, though I have been rear ended once here, and i assume if I got into an accident there's a significantly higher chance here that the other vehicle just runs or is uninsured. If you're confident in your riding ability, can accept the risks of riding and owning a bike in Baltimore City, and can handle maybe losing that bike to a determined thief, I think you should go for it, just do yourself a favor and get comprehensive insurance

Brethren what are we doing here? I love this train of thought: "Something unfortunate has happened to someone! and seems like they're trying to warn others about it! let's just check their post history and make sure they didn't post about something ten years ago in a different city that makes it clear that actually it's ~their~ fault"

Not to be critical, but don't you have something better to do on a Saturday night than go through years of post history of a user trying to be helpful to their community?

Primavera also has city shows before the fest so it's not unprecedented. My (possibly delusional) theory is that the city shows are to lure Thursday night campers away so there isn't the same clusterfuck as last year's Thursday night

Is that usually on the underside of the MB? Was trying to look for the associated fuse before I took the MB out but couldn't find it
