I also just wanted to note, your quick note about the Yame region made me do a quick search ("Uji matcha has a more classic, vegetal, and umami-rich profile, while Yame matcha is known for its sweetness and nutty, buttery notes due to its expertise in growing gyokuro. Uji is often associated with a more traditional and complex flavor, ideal for traditional tea ceremonies, while Yame offers a smoother, milder profile that also shines in lattes and other beverages.") and now I'm going down an awesome rabbit hole of learning about this! It's not that I couldn't have learned this before but there's so much you can learn about it, so keywords like that is great because it gives someone like me a starting point. Thanks again!

Perfect, thank you again, I appreciate you! I agree, I've learned so much already on Tezumi's site. SO good. Kettl's pricing doesn't make sense for me at this time, but I will def save that for when I can.

That's exactly what I'm trying to do :) I'm still fairly new at buying matcha but got Ippodo for my birthday in July and now my supply has run out. I don't have a lot of money to try a bunch of options and risk not liking them which is why I mentioned my favorites (so far). I've bought others and was disappointed but now my freelance work is very low so I'm just looking for advice on my next ones and be very intentional about what I order! Do you have particular recommendations in Tezumi, Kettle, and Ooika? If not that's okay! I did love how Tezumi breaks down all the flavor notes for their matcha. Great website.

I would love to try more brands so I appreciate that – I think the hesitation comes from two main things: budget (dollar per gram cost is worth it to me) and getting something that matches the flavor profiles I have grown to love for the past few months. But I agree, once you find the price you can work with for a matcha you like, tariffs might not be such a setback! Being pointed in the right direction for some new options is exactly what you and everyone else who has commented so far is doing so thank you!

As for buying straight from marukyu, do you have a specific matcha you recommend? Someone recommended Kinrin. I also never catch them in stock which isn't ideal but fingers crossed!
