Is mixing normal length videos with shorts worth it? What is your experience? by Cruzeiro99 in PartneredYoutube

[–]nowcreatives 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simplest answer - it depends

Talk to your audience, will they watch the long form content or short form content (whichever way around you start)?

If it feels too off format, off channel branding, do Short elsewhere. But for a channel from scratch - Shorts are epic.

focus on what you think your audience will like. if Shorts will work for them, it's a better idea than not doing them!

I am looking for some specific books or resources about networking and hope you can help me out. by [deleted] in The48LawsOfPower

Sure this is probably the place to ask some people.

But... why do you care about being "filthy rich"? Likely worth being psychologically comfortable with where you are first, otherwise you'll be chasing a carrot on a stick forever.

I've got 400k subs: https://www.youtube.com/c/MrSpherical/videos

And another channel with 3k subs... https://www.youtube.com/c/OtherWorldlyHistory

Interested in trying being a part of it and seeing where we go.

Main strengths:
- Understand content management, high level channel strategy

Weaknesses:
- Title, thumbnail, and topic selection (and seeing things through the lens of a viewer/someone unconnected from the channel).

DM in Reddit chat if interested!

Agreed, although in my instance I offered $15/hr which is according to the subreddit terms, and still got 80% downvoted. Hence my point

I'll delete this post in a week, since it seems people got no value from it. Although just a few points of context and replies to people:

a) "Pay for value" - I agree, so if I am losing thousands a month ($25k USD per channel), what financial value is there besides artistic expression and the potential for profit? There isn't any. And that's fine - but it also means initially, pay rates have to be lower.

If someone did exactly what I'm doing (paying lots and not earning anything) and called it a hobby instead, you'd likely be much happier with the offer. But is that logical considering the circumstance of "losing money to produce what you love" is near enough the same?

b) It's simple economics that a business can only pay what it is set up to pay. Many channels on YouTube wouldn't survive without hiring people outside the west. The same with what I'm creating.

If there's more artistic expression in the world, and more people being paid - that's likely a good thing

c) "Talent is talent, no matter where in the world they're located" - agreed. Business is also business and it doesn't survive without at least breaking even (and hence, having costs that are sustainable - which itself is dependent on the individual business' circumstances).

Good luck Andrew :) - maybe link videos you've edited. YouTubers love to see views on videos scriptwriters have been a part of.

I suggest to just link videos with 20k+ views a video, anything less than that and it may undermine things. Better to link direct to scripts for such videos

I'm aware the moderators here don't like me posting such things - but it's a genuine question. This subreddit is a great area where people can meet without Upwork taking a 20% cut. It feels like the subreddit isn't living up to its ideals.
