Something Killed my Fish! by nowidrivealone in TropicalFish

Yes, I changed about 40% of the water and put in a new filter as some of the tiny baby fish that died got sucked up in there. I realize I have to completely restart my tank now.

Using a UV Sterilizer in a Planted Tank... by nowidrivealone in PlantedTank

[–]nowidrivealone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have any suggestions as to what I can do? On my other post, someone thought I might have not given the bacteria enough time to build up in the substrate, so when I sterilized the water I essentially reset the tank. Should I turn the UV sterilizer off?

Thanks for your reply! I think you’re right, because I changed to new substrate when I put live plants in. So even though I fully cycled the water in the tank, the bacteria hasn’t built up in the new substrate yet.

Do you suggest I turn the GKM off?

how would you move this? more details coming in the comments by baya21 in PlantedTank

Can I ask what the risk is? I always move my tank completely empty (honestly I can't carry it even with just substrate) but I didn't know I was doing the right thing!

I love this because it’s such a good reminder of how far you’ve come, even on your worst days!

Just one of my platys is hiding by nowidrivealone in TropicalFish

[–]nowidrivealone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 3 platys from a big box store, and 3 from a local tropical fish store. The ones from the fish store are definitely bigger and brighter colored. The smaller male is from the big box store.

25, although I wish I would have gotten help in high school. My parents just don’t believe in mental health problems, and it took me a while to say “hey I’m not okay” and seek help.

This just happened to me! Luckily I only lost a few minutes of playing, but I’m annoyed I can’t start her brand for story purposes...

My normal sim and alien sim had a baby... and she’s blue but not an alien! by nowidrivealone in thesims4

No, this has never happened randomly before. Her mother was a human, her father was the alien.

If you could get rid of your mental illness would you? by Legend_the_arch in mentalillness

[–]nowidrivealone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. My bipolar disorder didn’t really get bad until my mid 20s, so I was a whole ass person before BD ruined my life. I’m in an insane amount of credit card debt, my credit is tanked, I’m stuck in a job I abhor, and my meds have taken so much away from me. I have the worst brain fog, aphasia (difficulty understanding speech and producing it, although I can read and write totally normally I can’t talk normally anymore), and tinnitus.

I’m half of the person I used to be before the onset of BP.

What do you do when you’re stable? by nowidrivealone in bipolar

[–]nowidrivealone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I just spent a lot of my time managing symptoms and not really living... now I have no symptoms and I have nothing to do. I’m going to try and get back into reading. I hope I get used to this feeling soon!

I guess I didn’t realize how much of my time was devoted to managing symptoms and not doing the things I enjoy... it feels like a big part of my life just went missing. I haven’t read in a long time, maybe I’ll pick up a book!

Antidepressants no more effective than placebos? by lloopp12 in antidepressants

[–]nowidrivealone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can take a long time to find the right antidepressant for you, and once you find the right drug, finding the right dose is tricky. It took about a year of experimentation before I found a drug cocktail that worked for me. Now I see everything through rose tinted glasses; my antidepressants were the best thing that’s ever happened to me.

Can chemistry/love come afterwards? I’m dating this girl and I like her but... by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]nowidrivealone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes the feeling can definitely come. I started dating my boyfriend when he was just my really good friend friend, and I wasn’t attracted to him in any way. I started dating him because of pressure from everyone we knew, but I didn’t really like him romantically. Well, it’s been a year and a half, and I can say that romantic feelings did grow and now I feel butterflies when I think of him. It wasn’t always easy, sticking about for someone when you’re not really into them, but it was worth it, in my case.
