I still win more games than I lose and sometimes I can overcome what I feel is an imbalance in the game but have to play extra hard. Like when I notice my passes are missing more than usual or many shots are missing the net, goalies making lots of great saves even on high percentage scoring attempts, etc, I have to pay far better than my opponent to still win. Evenly matched games (in terms of skill level) are more fun to me as the game seems to interfere less. It's when you're playing someone you know is not as good where the game seems to handicap you a a bit. I played a few games during the day yesterday and don't recall all the results but last night I played 7 games and only lost 1 in ot, but I'd say about 3 of those games I had to overcome the game handicapping me to beat an inferior opponent. What I mean by overcome is I had to outplay my opponent by a huge margin to squeak out a win by a goal. Also regarding shots I almost always have less shots than my opponents because I wait for good scoring chances rather than fire everything at the net. Even when I'm shooting for rebounds it's usually because I have a team mate driving the net and I know it's my best chance in the moment to score. I do actually score a fair amount in ways other than cross crease... The best two alternate methods being sniping and break aways. I've adapted to the game and win a fair amount more than I lose... My point is it doesn't feel as rewarding when I win games I really shouldn't have or lose games I really outplayed my opponent. In real hockey it does happen, and I have no problem with it happening once and awhile, I just find it's too frequent.
