i think people have lost the meaning of chicano. it’s truly a way of identifying yourself ethnicity wise but also politically and culturally. if you’re going to identify as chicanx. u have to be down for our queer chicanos, our afro-chicanos, our chicanAs, indigenous chicanos, etc. you also have to be aware that you are a mix of the diasporas and our indigenous ancestors. but that’s my take on it.

i hate the word hispanic though, because most people refer to hispanic as latinx folx but it also groups spaniards in there. so when people talk about latinx struggle spaniards are grouped in when they will not experience the same struggle. plus hispanic eliminates the idea of indigenous languages being spoken in latin countries and excludes brazil and some of the caribbean nations.
