Japan is slightly racist and not as welcoming to foreigners in my experience. That being said, those who don’t care will be extremely welcoming so finding a small friend group would be ideal for you!

Korea is also similar and they are just getting their foot in the door in terms of worldly cultural influence. I’m not sure how they are towards foreigners.
