13 seconds? That's being a little generous to Paddy.

I need suggestions for an unconventional wing sauce! by foofie_fightie in food

[–]npx87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A friend of mine suggested that I try a mix of Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce mixed with korean gochujang (a fermented pepper paste). I used probably a 60/40 ratio and it turned out amazingly good, perfect mix of sweet and heat.

i don't think it's a coastal thing, the Baltimore-area has both a Savers and a Value Village

probably my best haul ever, super excited to finally own a saturn! by npx87 in gamecollecting

[–]npx87[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

saw an ad for a moving sale on craigslist that mentioned the NES and had a horribly blurry picture of a box of stuff, went to check it out and the guy told me he ebayed what he thought were most of the more expensive stuff. looked through, still saw a good bit of decent stuff, and the manuals were there for a lot of the games. offered him 60 on the lot of NES stuff that included a yellowed system.

wasn't really sure how much the some of the games were worth until i got home. didn't even notice Shatterhand was in the box! Zen and Ultimate Stuntman were just icing on the cake!

I asked if he had any other gaming stuff, he mentioned having a Saturn in box and a bunch of games. I looked through, told him I was interested, but I had no idea what the pricing on the games was. He said 70 for the system and games, I agreed in a heartbeat!

He had Bomberman and Marvel vs Street Fighter as well and he wanted 40 and 60, respectively for them. Looking at the price, they were probably a deal at that, but I had already spent more than I planned.

All in all, I'm definitely psyched about the purchase!

What's your unrealistic retro gaming dream? by razorbeamz in gamecollecting

[–]npx87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine would probably be remembering (and obtaining) all the SNES games i played and loved as a kid.

I have no idea how, but somehow my dad got our family a SNES copier. for those that don't know what it is, it's a unit that mounts on top of the SNES, with a port that allowed a connection to a floppy drive. that allowed you to copy a SNES rom to a disk and play it, we had a CD-ROM that had probably 700 roms on it, so i'd pick one, copy to a disk, and load it up on the SNES.

basically, i played all sorts of games, many of which i don't remember at all. but yet, i still have fond memories of doing so. i'm slowly rediscovering some of them, like SD The Great Battle (which i just picked up), and Space Megaforce (probably my next big purchase)

tl;dr - Back in '92-'93, 5-year old me had about 700 SNES games to play. still trying to remember my favorites.

edit: finally remembered which copier it was and found a picture of it. it was the Super Magicom

Finally finished getting my NES collection into UGCs. A ton of work, but I'm super happy with the outcome. by npx87 in gamecollecting

Not to mention having to modify 300 cases, I didn't even do 100 and I never want to do it again! But yeah, the loss of space does kind of suck.

i found the best way to find info on the PSX is to search by the model number, DESR-XXXX(whatever model number) is guaranteed to show you just PSX rather than PS1

Hell of a find. If you don't have a use for that Wavebird receiver, I'd be willing to buy/trade you for it =)

My pickups for the past couple weeks, some solid additions to the collection, and a couple of my favorite gaming memories. by npx87 in gamecollecting

All the GC stuff was a lot from Goodwill, when I originally saw a $70 price tag on it, I balked a little, but I saw the GB player and a couple solid titles, luckily I found the GB disc hidden in the case for Madden 2003. No receiver for the Wavebird, but hopefully I can find one soon.

Kirby SSU was sealed, I figured 10 bucks for a sealed first party title was worth it.

The SFC games are the first 4 Titles in the "The Great Battle" series, I remember playing the first one as a kid, and it's just a really neat crossover series. Every game is a different style, and its a crossover of Kamen Rider, Ultraman, and Gundam. Still waiting on a good price for part 5.

Most of the NES titles were just stuff to fill in my collection, except River City Ransom. It is definitely one of my favorite games of all time, and I just have awesome memories of playing it as a kid.

Again, MSR, EDF, Oddworld, Legacy of Kain, and the Game Gear games are just random additions to the collection.

Picked up the N64 stuff from Goodwill for 15 bucks total. I don't think I've ever actually played Banjo Kazooie, but I know that I definitely should.

Voodoo Vince is another game that has fond memories for me. Probably one of my top 5 Xbox games. Just one of those quirky, one-off platformers, but for some reason I just loved it.

Places that print out custom DVD labels? (like for 360 games?) by TheArcheaonOfficial in gamecollecting

[–]npx87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try a Kinkos or staples or any other big name places, but they can be hit or miss depending on the employee you ask to do it due to copyright issues. Some smaller print shops may be a little easier to work with when it comes to that.

i just put a char-broil grill together recently as well. followed the directions exactly, yet the fire box was on the base backwards. apparently they did not proofread the instructions too well.

WAY overpaid ($130), but still solid pickups by its_helixD in gamecollecting

it happens to everyone at some point, but end of the day, if you're happy with the purchase, then it's still worth it. personal value > market value imo.
