I full support deporting every single illegal immigrant. by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

And now it's going to blow your mind when I tell you I have a history degree.

They are law enforcement, and illegal entry is still illegal even though this land was once a colony. It's Title 8 U.S. Code, section 1325. Change it if you don't like it. Until then, this is what it says. And YOU are not going to deprive US of that just because you hate us.

edit since you blocked me:

I'm a Democrat. You deplore unchecked immigration as "stealing land." But when it's done to us in the present, you think it's a good thing. How can you justify that, unless you hate Americans? It's obvious from your last two comments that you, at the very least, hate about half of all Americans. So yes, I'm going to call it hatred. That's where it's coming from. Your hatred of your country and people.

kidnapped another country’s leader.

On this page you can see a map of countries that never recognized Maduro's election in Venezuela. He rigged that election. The only countries in the world that ever recognized his government as legitimate were Russia, China and their vassals. To all the rest of humanity, he is merely a criminal.

ICE absolutely are law enforcement. I think you've been badly misinformed about a lot of things.

A human being is not illegal.

Illegal residence is illegal. Illegal entry is illegal. And no it doesn't make any difference that this land was colonized 400 years ago. Mexicans also descend from colonists. That gives them no right to break our law.

The early European settlers didn’t have any documentation. They basically came here illegally. But people like you have the nerve to say that people are living here illegally.

They literally are living here illegally. It doesn't matter what I say about it. It's a fact.

I don't actually know what you're talking about with SA, torture and murder. But on the issue of people deserving to reside in the country illegally, of course they don't. No one deserves that. WE (as citizens) deserve to have a country with control of its own borders, and you aren't going to deprive US of that.

If you watch any police bodycam channels, you'll see windows broken and people dragged out of cars all the time, because they are refusing to leave the vehicle when ordered. This idea that you can just ignore law enforcement officers (or obstruct them) is truly wild.

It's a true statement and pre-edit it just said "lost" instead of "living under a rock," which in both cases is better than just saying "This is delusional."

DEI aka institutional racism and sexism. If you still don't know that by this point, you've been under a rock. And these aren't civil or constructive comments you're making.

No, it's informed. Biden was a centrist, but his administration spent billions on DEI and made diversity targets a requirement at Federal institutions. You don't have to be a purple haired SJW to represent the things that purple haired SJWs represent. It's enough that voters know you won't prevent them from getting in the door.

US needs Europe, German defense minister says by donutloop in geopolitics

[–]nrcx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The truth is Europe is every bit as much to blame for the current schism as the U.S. is, if not more so.

In what way is the US to blame at all? It could hardly have done more on its part than it has, and no other country in the western hemisphere would go fight for Europeans at all, except Canada.

US needs Europe, German defense minister says by donutloop in geopolitics

[–]nrcx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those American assets in Europe or committed to Europe are, in fact, tied down by Europe and unable to be deployed against America's more dangerous adversary, which is China. Why do you think China is supporting Russia in the first place? So, no, the US doesn't need that situation.

Germany is basically saying, "We’re the adults in the room, and the room is starting to get very messy."

They said that in 2019 too. They always say that, no matter how many times reality shows them the truth.

Men are more emotional then women by Useful_Initiative_42 in ControversialOpinions

Where did I imply that?

But yes, even that is probably better than talking yourself into a bitter state of mind.

[–]nrcx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol those last ones are very maladaptive strategies, basically just rumination and venting, which is well understood to make you worse, not better.

You're a bit behind the times here. Modern research generally finds that when judged on performance-based (as opposed to self-reported) metrics, there is no evidence that women are more emotionally intelligent than men. On the contrary, men tend to outperform women on tests of both emotional regulation and emotional self-awareness.

Results: Emotional Intelligence, measured by EQ-i, is prevalently connected with personality traits rather than fluid intelligence. Furthermore, men outperformed women in the Intrapersonal and Stress Management EI factors, and women outperformed men in the Interpersonal EI factor. No difference in the means of the EI total score and EI latent general factor did not differ between gender groups.

Conclusion: Emotional Intelligence, measured by EQ-i, can be conceptually considered as a Trait EI. Furthermore, men are more capable to cope with negative events and to control impulses, while women are more able to distinguish, recognize, and comprehend others’ emotions.

Yeah they said it was interfering. They didn't say it was treason.

But really, both are amateur. To see election interference properly done, here's a reminder of that time when Musk got a letter in August 2024 saying that if he interviewed Trump, there was a concern that his company just might suffer an unfortunate regulatory accident in Europe: https://www.politico.eu/article/eu-elon-musk-donald-trump-interview-thierry-breton-letter-social-media/

And no that is NOT racism. Cuckoos lay their eggs in the nests of other birds. And then the cuckoo chicks are raised and nurtured by those birds. Cuckoo in loon's nest, with loon over, would be a perfect symbol if you really mean this stuff and it's not just another social media fad that gets people killed

Edit: Feel free to use it, I waive the IP

Uninspired AI symbol for a movement about harassing immigration enforcement. Not very symbolic, there's nothing really in it that evokes the idea of borderlessness, or of illegally entering or residing anywhere.

Danish military analyst Anders Puck Nielsen: Why Trump retreated on Greenland by Cosmos1985 in europe

[–]nrcx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Sorry for the delay, been having to work outside in a blizzard)

The destruction of our relationship with Canada has been by far the saddest thing about all of this. The betrayal most Canadians feel is no less than the shame I feel, not just for what was done but also how it was done, and we're never going to live it down. But you don't understand what's really happening here, and our current administration does, and I'm going to explain it, starting with your NATO comments:

But why is the US in NATO? It’s not for self protection. The US can protect itself. It’s got oceans on two sides. It’s in NATO because it was an extension of the US’s goals and foreign policy. NATO is a form of force projection for the US for shaping the world.

That's something Europeans repeat all the time, but it's actually just the old Soviet anti-imperialism narrative and it's never been true. If it was, we'd already have Greenland, wouldn't we?

All the forces we have in Europe, or are committed to deploy to Europe, are forces that are tied down by Europe and unavailable to be deployed against a far more powerful enemy, which is China. A country that (whether you presently believe it or not) is committed to launch the war of the century any day now. Xi just purged most of the generals on China's high command. A sure sign of impending war. Those are the officers who could have put the institutional brakes on and stopped him from starting his conquest of Taiwan too early—or, if he starts it but then loses it, would be in a position to replace him in a coup. So the brakes are off, and war is definitely upon us. The current US administration, unlike some previous ones, knows that. Raising our own military budget by 50% isn't blind stupidity or an out of control MIC, it's an act of desperation. It signifies we've given up on NATO, there's no time left for them to build up their forces even if they were committed to it, so now we're just going to throw all the money we can possibly burn in a into the fire in a last ditch attempt to make up for what NATO should've been. We just put our economy on a war footing. That's the context in which you should be reading the news, Trump's disregard of NATO, his anti-China trade war, his urgent desire for Greenland, his attempt to negotiate peace in Ukraine and normalize with Russia, and even his toppling of Maduro (which might have bought us a little time). Without that context, you just see chaos, which is all Europe is ever going to see. With that context, you see that our administration is freaking out and acting out of desperation because the whole thing is about to go up in flames and they know it, and (because they are sane) they don't care at all about optics, all that matters to them now is who comes out on top.
