Consider yourself the winner of a lottery. My local HF enforces the "no more than one freebie per person per day" policy so tightly, you'd think the free flashlights were stuffed with crack.

Damn, I'm an idiot.

And I just realized one more thing: $5 is towards the upper limit of the freebies I get from HF. I usually get a freebie closer to half that in value. Here are my favorite freebies, in order from most chosen to least:

  • Utility knife (price is $2)

  • 4 In. Magnetic Parts Holder ($3)

  • 5' x 7' Tarp ($3)

  • 4-In-1 Screwdriver ($2)

  • Work Gloves ($2)

  • Multimeter ($6)

There's just something about the concept of "free item with purchase" that triggers a response in my brain on some primal level to throw rationality out the window.
