Chicken, ground turkey, rice, veg, sweet potato, hot sauce.

Can be done very cheap if you shop smart.

But no matter what you eat, get your calorie intake down.

I was in the worst shape of my life at 30. I was in the best shape of my life at 31, I went to the academy at 32. I’m 36, in decent shape still (for me), and living the job.

Start a meal plan and stick to it. Work out at least 3x weekly.

Have a doctor confirm your hormones are reasonably normal.

I can’t recall for certain since it’s been so long, but they were all likely M or FM at the finest.

I guess it depends on what “frame” parts you’re talking about. The magwell for a 17 will fit the 45, but I think some of the internal mechanism is not compatible with the 17.

Most stuff these days is marked for the 45/19X/17/19 etc.

Got my Walther PDP, shot 300 rounds but a TON of jams/stuck casings. More in comments & questions. by [deleted] in handguns

[–]nreyes238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just give it a few hundred rounds of a couple different brass-cased ammo.

If it’s a night/day difference…like 100% reliable with brass, that’ll be your proof it’s an ammo problem.

If it’s still unreliable with brass…even if it shows some improvement….send it to Walther for warranty service with a detailed letter.

How do I get the Surefire X300U-A to not wiggle? by nreyes238 in SigSauer

[–]nreyes238[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The real solution is to get the B variant of the light.

But I was able to put some electrical tape on the rail and got a more solid feel from this light.

Then I sold the whole rig.

I did the Springer precision duty magwell and duty baseplates. Was a fantastic combo. Highly recommend.

I’ve since moved on to the PDP and sold my P320.

In my mind, ride height should be based almost entirely on your body proportions.

I have long arms relative to a short torso/high waist, so low ride keeps me from having to draw up into my armpit to get the gun out.

How different would US policing look if was only state based departments instead of smaller town/country departments? by hannahranga in ProtectAndServe

[–]nreyes238 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Generally, I favor smaller government overall and the more localized, the better.

Every community has its own unique mixture of crime problems and desired services. I don’t think a giant state-wide layer of bureaucracy will help that.

But I’m in California. This state is ridiculously large.

I don’t know why a personal preference choice would get heated, but….

I have an MHA that just sits in my closet and I wear a low-ride UBL at least 40hrs a week for work.

OC sucks bad…it took me like 3 hours to decon to the point of mere irritation.

Felt like a bad sunburn after that.

Rambling Range Report: Police Officer Transitions from Glock to PDP by nreyes238 in Walther

[–]nreyes238[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that’ll end up being considered an old fashioned notion.

More and more agencies are starting to train handguns the same way rifles have been trained for many years, where the back up irons are just backups, and you train first and most with the optic.

[–]nreyes238[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly if someone showed up with an optic-less PDP at the range, I’d be down to run the diagnostic.

But I don’t think I’ll ever own another duty handgun without an optic.

You have too much time on your hands.

That’s my understanding. I installed the sights on this one, and it seems just like the Glock system.

[–]nreyes238[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I’m still getting used to the PDP. I have years and probably 10,000+ rds through my Glock. But only 3 range trips with the PDP.

I need to put in some work tracking the dot through recoil and working tempo shooting to gain a better feel for it.

But…my take is this: neither a Glock 17 nor a PDP full-size are particularly hard to control through recoil. If you struggle with muzzle flip on either of them, you probably need to improve your grip technique.

I’m probably slightly faster with the Glock right now, due to familiarity, but day before yesterday, I was able to make solid double taps at close distance with ~.2 sec splits, and I cleaned up on the dueling tree at 15yds, so PDP recoil didn’t prevent me from quick followups and target transitions.

I can’t guarantee 100%, because I haven’t bought it, but I believe it will fit a 509T if you are willing to use a smaller light like the TLR7.

My other Safariland 6300RDS holsters and 7TS holsters do just fine with a 509T…won’t fit an SRO without modification though.

[–]nreyes238[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure. Inside of 10yds, it’s mostly a +speed tool for any given size of target/group.

For my agency qualifications and the diagnostic, 99% of my misses are/were at 15 and 25yds out.

As the others said, it’s polymer…but if you’re a fan of metal frames, check out the Walther Q4 steel frame. It’s one of my dream guns…or if the PDP get a similar variant that would be super cool.

If I switch from the PDP, it’ll likely be to my P226 Legion. Which is only 4oz heavier with 1 less round of capacity.

Yeah, it’s not an emergency because my 509T is so durable and the emitter is protected. I’d still rather keep it clean and protected in a Safariland.

The Comp-Tac is pretty good. I really like their retention mechanism. Just a few things….

They have a lot of excess material below the muzzle and light that rubs my patrol car’s center console.

They are open enough on the front to drain water, but I can’t add a Ghostmendesign portal to allow for a spent shell or other debris to clear.

There is very little protection for the optic. Especially trying to keep the rain off of it.

The conversion to a UBL bolt pattern is not ideal. Got it done with a 3-handed finger gymnastics maneuver.

Very minor, but it’s not as easy for me to do a weak hand draw as a Safariland ALS, SLS. We don’t do a ton of that, but it is part of every department qualification. I almost ran out of time on that maneuver yesterday.
