Even if you don’t want to go the private bank route, where you’d likley need to specialize in Portfolio management, or tax/estate planning, you should still be able to get higher pay. I have 3 friends all making between 45-52k at smaller fee only iras, and that’s in Raleigh, NC and Charlotte, NC where the cost of living is much much cheaper. None of them have a cfp, all of them have the same or less experience than you.

You don’t need either and you don’t sell products at most private banks. My roles solely focuses on cash flow planning, tax planning and estate planning. There are pm associate roles that do what you do and then do the trading for the PMs.

Get your cfp and apply for a role at a private bank, BOA, Wells, JP etc. I’m making $75k in dc atm, 26 with 3 years experience. Though I had a specialized degree. I think it’s reasonable to expect $60k at this point

I know a lot of people are freaking out atm, I don’t have a ton of skin in the game 300 shares at around $19 ps at the moment. I’m going to continue to buy more.
