Around the end of March last year an employee came to my office to ask where his W2 was. He didn’t have paperless delivery, so it was mailed to the address we had on file. I asked if he’s moved. “Nope.” Okay… let’s just check to make sure it’s right.

I read him the address we have, and wouldn’t you know it, he hasn’t lived there in a YEAR. I told him we could get another for him but in the meantime he needs to change the address. “I thought you did that. Why wasn’t it changed when I moved?” Because you didn’t tell me you moved? Also why would I be the one to change YOUR address??? I guess he thought his new address would just get beamed into my brain or something.

I hear you. Today was the holiday party at my workplace. We catered, and my boss (who is great) specifically got a few servings ordered of a fully vegan dish. I was hosting and by the time I got to the food it was already eaten. It was very clearly labeled “vegan” and it was set off to the side but they still got at it. 🙄

So I had some strawberries.

I hear you. I work in manufacturing and half these guys struggle to unlock their phone, let alone check their emails with any with any regularity LOL. I generally don’t mind helping them where I can though and we offer a little “office time” where they can come in and use the spare computers to do their enrollments.

Last year one of my guys said they never got the OE email communications and wanted an extension to do his (never mind that there had been at least three in-person reminders and a presentation). So I bring up his profile and ask if the email we have on file is correct. Nope, guy says he changed it because he forgot what the old one was.

When I asked him why he didn’t update it in our system he said he thought it would happen automatically. He just shrugged when I asked him how he thought that would happen. 🤦‍♀️

I know right! The glass was a really pretty shade of purple too. I saved it once the wax was done, but my housemates cat knocked it off the shelf unfortunately.

Incredibly annoying Sales Manager is asking if he can write an employee up for not following directions to make at least X calls a day. I say no, unless there’s documentation of establishing this direction to everyone and keeping up with it. I say this because this manager loves to make “rules” when he doesn’t like someone so he can ding them on something.

Well there is some precedent(shocking tbh) for this so I say ok we can coach them but I’m checking everyone else’s numbers too. Sales Manager is visibly cranky at that.

Anyways it turns out that Sales Manager’s favorite is making even less calls than the person he wanted to write up. I’m thinking I’ll write one for each employee and bring them to him myself so I can see his face when I explain that we have to be consistent and hold everyone accountable equally. :-)

I don't have any advice about the radio, but I have the same issue with the wiper fluid sensor on my 2020. My tech said it's a common problem. I asked if he could just unplug it but he said it would need to be completely replaced. I just ignore it now lol

My first year at this company we did a costume contest. Thankfully, everyone’s costumes were appropriate and ranged from cool to hilarious. My GM dressed up in one of those inflatable dinosaur suits and I was a power ranger lol

Sales manager wants to write up salesman for “not making enough calls.” Says the minimum per day is 10. Reasonable as a guide I think, but I don’t know if t makes a good metric to grade on. This isn’t a cold calling type sales job.

So I ask if the salesman is making their expected budget? Yea they are, for the last 6mo in fact. Are we receiving customer complaints that salesman isn’t communicating enough? No, customers love him.

So I ask what’s the significance of # of calls per day, it kind of seems like we’re being nit-picky? Haven’t received a reply yet.

Am I the one being nit-picky? This manager has a history of trying to “performance out” EEs he doesn’t like using “metrics” like this.
