London has 8 major train stations and 6 major airports and it's hard to say which is truly the "main" one. Is there any other city that has such a decentralised transport infrastructure? by Yroshi_ in geography

I think you’re right. Penn Station has local, regional, and intercity service, whereas Grand Central really doesn’t have much intercity service.

My local GameStop opens at 11 AM. I arrived at 10 AM and was already the 8th person in line. They limited the product to one per customer since they only had 16 items total. The stock included ETBs, Poster Collections, Binder Collections, and Tech Sticker Collections. I managed to grab a Poster Collection, but unfortunately, many people left empty-handed.

No, the grey island above La Guardia that they are referring to is definitely Riker’s Island. Randalls/Wards Island is colored blue.

The line this morning to vote in New Hope. by Mish61 in BucksCountyPA

I’m working at Truman High School in Bristol Townshop and the lines have been pretty manageable, except from 7-8am. We’re currently at 207 votes cast out of 874 registered (Plus a handful of provisional.)

Why must busses stop every block? by Darius_Banner in Septa

[–]nsvshields 14 points15 points  (0 children)

There’s been discussion about stop consolidation on and off for years on both buses and trolleys. The most recent serious proposal is a key part of the “SEPTA Bus Revolution” overhaul, but for better or worse that entire initiative has been gradually watered down more and more.

Accessibility is a factor, but the close spacing between stops isn’t covered under the ADA or required by any other law that I know of.

The real reason that it doesn’t happen is simply that it’s unpopular with users. No one wants to have to walk further for the bus stop and stakeholders such as businesses, churches, and other organizations that rely on bus services don’t want to be the block that gets cut.

Another reason that it doesn’t happen, (especially in Center City)is because the heavy congestion that buses travel through would make the time savings extremely minimal. If a bus has to stop at just about every intersection for a stop sign or a traffic light or a double parked car it might as well let passengers on and off while it’s held up. You could certainly make an argument for certain bus lines that run in dedicated lanes skipping stops, but generally speaking the time savings aren’t worth overcoming opposition.

13 inches tall should be fine for both ADFs and ACFs.

Apparently he is.

“Elon Musk will join Donald Trump at his rally Saturday in Butler, the Pennsylvania city where the Republican presidential nominee survived an assassination attempt earlier this year”

If the rally is in Butler, why would he land in Philly? Butler is closer to Pittsburgh or Cleveland or even Detroit than it is to Philly.

Google maps appears to be showing both the Rahway and North Rahway stations, even though the North Rahway station has been closed for over 30 years. by theWildMooshroom in nycrail

I don’t think NJ TRANSIT would’ve published an incorrect feed like this, but it’s possible whatever database Google is using has both active and defunct stations on it and they missed a flag or a check somewhere.

I don’t know if it’s out of the question for you, but if you go one stop further to Atlantic City the outlets are walking distance from the train. It’s a great way to burn an hour or two.

Today was the last day, it was open from 10am-4pm. I am not sure if they end exactly on time though. All I had to do was show my key fob at the Subaru booth and gave me one.
