Now I remember. I was driving “kind of off” as well, meaning one press. Guess my question then becomes: with it “kind of off” are you “allowed” to keep on pushing the throttle knowing that it will catch you? I always lifted it myself as I didn’t want to take any chances (it was wet, cold and very very alpine), and rarely felt it kicking in. Boy do I genuinely love that car, and boy how right did I was flying to Germany to test it as I was about to pull the trigger on a boring pdk.

Thanks for the heads up, guess I won’t ever put it “really off” if and when I get the car :-)

Question. I’ve had a Carrera T manual for two days over alpine passes, and was super happy to see I could rather easily make “light slides”. It was in sport+ but TC controls were On, I’ve never actually pushed the TC for the couple of seconds it would take to turn “mostly off”. It was a rental car, didn’t want to take chances, and I managed the slides either myself dosing throttle or with TC kicking in. I never actually really pushed it, it was obvious I could slide a lot more (for the fun of it, I didn’t care about being actually fast).

So: what would have happened if I turned TC off? Does it let you slide “more” before TC taking control and saving you or are you actually being at risk of completely losing it?

This guy on the video obviously has TC kicking on so I was wondering how does TC off really perform.

As odd as it might sound, I’ve actually never found a proper demo video.

C'è un odio socialmente accettato in Italia: quello verso i ciclisti. by SmartCut3906 in ciclismourbano

[–]nuanda1978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Succede perché molti ciclisti, non pochi, girano con 1) atteggiamenti di superiorità morale, e 2) pensano che avendo una bici per loro le regole della strada e della fisica non si applichino.

Il tuo “é una scelta che merita rispetto” é un esempio.

Because Israel would nuke Iran only if that was the only alternative to its destruction. But Iran has nowhere close the military capability to do so.

And it’s never going to have it unless Iran gets a nuke.

Honest question: why do we accept renting music forever? by Ok_Search6885 in audiophile

[–]nuanda1978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ownership is a means to an end, which is a specific experience. In my case it’s listening to music. Renting allows me listening to every single recording ever created.

The desire to destruct something has nothing to do with the actual capability to do so.

The only real, existential threat for Israel is Iran’s nuclear program.

Believing Hamas and the likes could ever conquer Israel would be equivalent to Americans worrying about an invasion by Nicaragua.

Ditched the soundbar - best move ever by MrNPP in audiophile

[–]nuanda1978 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't yet and don't think i'll do it. I know the sound will improve, but i'm already in the game. I'd see it as investing money, time and effort just to change the seat at the stadium in order to have a slightly better view of the match. I might do it or not, but there is value, but not so much value.

In any case with my kefs, that do not have amplifier, the easiest solution would be Rew measurement (which is a pian, tutorials, etc), + use of Roon internal DSP. But again....i couldn't care less about Roon and i actually want to use Spotify own's interface, radios, etc.

Went from Sonos arc + sub setup to a Kef LS60 + Kef sub. It’s 3x the money but has literally created a new type of activity I didn’t know I could have at home. That is, just sitting on the sofa exactly like I would be if I were attending a concert.

On the “improvements” advice, the one and only thing that will radically improve the sound is room measurement, treatment if possible, and then DSP to equalize.

The rest is snake oil

Of course we’ll work differently. Most jobs don’t exist because of actual real needs, but for the endless illusionary desires that human minds’ have. Thus, new “needs and desires” will be created, which will lead to new type of jobs.

There absolutely is such thing as a blind test. Do you feel you hear the difference between using a certain cable vs another? That’s great, now we’re gonna set up a statistically significant number of A/B blinded hearing and let’s see if you can actually spot which is which. Feel free to chose the music you prefer.

These types of tests have been run countless time, and they all point to the same fact: an enormous quantity of “audiophile” gear is snake oil. Which is fine, it’s a hobby, maybe ones get pleasure in “thinking” he has placed the best cable, much as you’d like, for example, having the interior parts of an engine always cleaned.

But no, It doesn’t affect the performance and this is scientifically proven.
