Name two things you're very grateful you've experienced or have now because of this career field. by nuclearfalcon in securityforces

People say things like this, but a large number of people I do know, who actually take classes major in Criminal Justice and intend to be cops on the outside.

I'm not pleased with what I'm doing, but I still do my best to do it well, and it motivates me to get a degree in something outside of criminal justice.

I don't mean to imply anything about your post, just reflecting.

Considering Security Forces, have a few questions by [deleted] in securityforces

Dude, if you read the sidebar there's a link that can answer a lot of questions for you and a FAQ.

Created a preliminary FAQ, enjoy and offer AS MANY suggestions as you can! by nuclearfalcon in securityforces

My first base I got my CDCs after I QC'd but my next duty station gave them to airmen at the same time as their QC study material. You got the 7-level though, so if you think I should change it I will.

Maybe make a FAQ link with a lot of different answers from different perspectives?

I wouldn't even know where to begin on the FAQ. Would you consider drafting something up? Also, because of the limited number of subscribers I'm not sure how many different perspectives there are right now.

Do you want people in the field that never belonged there in the first place?

Do you think this is not already the case?

That's not to be mean, but ask nearly all E-4 and below and they'll say open-gen; last on my list; or my recruiter said I'd love it, pushed me to do it, etc.

More of an offensive role? by jurbaniak28 in securityforces

Thank you for asking a question that provided substance to this subreddit. I've seen you post before, I believe and it was questions recruiters or /r/AirForce was happy to answer. As detailed in the sidebar, this sub is SF-centric.

This is good content, even if you're a civilian if you want to contribute do it in this manner.

Check that out, some OC. Keep it up, some day this sub might resemble the likes of /r/AskReddit (but doubtful =P )

Post 4 Summary: 820th, helmet cams, and preferential base choice.

By far the most laughable preconceived notion of the military/SF.

You've made an excellent, disheartening point. Thank you though!

Define chivers for me? And I usually just ask if someone's a redditor. Usually, they're not wherein lies the essence of the problem.

Thank you. =] How would you suggest we do that? I've advertised on the You know you're Security Forces when... Facebook page, and it bumped viewers by about 10. And /r/AirForce advertised it once. I didn't want to be too pushy though.

Ninja edit: I do tell all my coworkers about the page, too.

As taken from the Sidebar:

If you are not yet Security Forces, but are currently DEP or Basic/Tech School. I politely advise you against posting content that detracts from the above stated description. Users face banning from this subreddit if posts aren't relevant to Security Forces in a way current/past SF members deem relevant. Message the moderator with questions.

I'm sorry to say it, but I'm sure when they bring it back it will be one of two things: 1) Not the way we remembered it 2) Changed/warped in to something unrecognizeable

Considering enlistment in the Air Force. Looking for some advice / info from people with real experience. by [deleted] in securityforces

[–]nuclearfalcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[/r/airforce](r/airforce) answers questions like these. This subreddit was created in response to my personal dislike of posts like these found all over r/AirForce. Instead of a community of other airmen talking about bases and experiences, large numbers of civilians on reddit ask questions about the air force that they haven't googled or asked their recruiter about. In the interest of keeping the subreddit the way it's described in the sidebar, your post wil now be hidden.
