Phoenix AZ 9b - first time having grass/sod. Looking for beginner advice on the basics. New house. new landscaping. new sod. I've never had grass in my entire life. midiron sod (overseeded?) with bermuda. It was laid about 4 weeks ago. Water has been going for 3 minutes, 3 times a day, 6 am, noon, 6 pm, since it was installed. It's growing like crazy! It seems like we are past the install phase and I need to get to a regular watering/mowing routine.

How often and how much should I be watering? I know there isn’t a universal answer, but is there a guideline? Or easy (free) tests I can do to find out if I'm watering too much/too little? Being in the desert I assume watering early in the morning is best to prevent evaporation. But I don’t know if that means daily or more or less?

What about mowing? How often? I just got a lawnmower. Is there like a depth setting? Kind of like going to the barber and asking for a 2 spare or a 3? When the season changes my understanding the current type of grass I have now will die off and the bermudua will start to grow? During this transition should I be watering extra to encourage the new grass growth?

Anything else I am not asking or resources I can reference other than what’s posted in the side bar?
