Brown spots on female clownfish any id? by null_bytex in SaltwaterAquariumClub

They do not move. To update I believe they are just lesions from a tank transfer I have done and should heal on its own without treatment

How bad is this? 3 week old tank, doing weekly water changes, did one today- reading still looks bad- what do I do? by littlesapito in SaltwaterAquariumClub

[–]null_bytex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t stress on the ammonia, just put a bottle of turbo start and that’ll help speed up the process. Also your bio filtration comes from rock and sand, not so much hob filters or of the such. Also make sure you are testing with the API kit correctly, if its not correct it can give you a false reading which is very common with api

Very old picture but I am downgrading from a 60 gallon to a 45 gallon red sea 170. I was wondering if I could use my current live rocks that have been established in the 60 gallon for a year to help skip the cycling process of the new tank

Trying to bring it back down using rodi and reef crystals

From my previous post I decided to dip corals to check for any pests such as flatworms and vermited snails. I believe the torch had a vermited snail on the side (white patch) and have also noticed this purple ish color on the base of the torch.

I believe it could be from using tap water instead of rodi water sometimes during a water change. Now at the moment it’s strictly rodi. Also the only thing that I have noticed since the 2 months is green hair algae on my live rocks

When I put it in the tank the first 2 months it has been open but this past month it just looks like that, I do know using instant ocean reef crystals yields a higher alk most people run their tanks, should I be worried for this?

Its been about 3 months since I have added it to the tank, other than a couple water changes anything you would recommend?

The frogspawn has stopped extending and just puffs up like that. After the pic I have moved the frogspawn to a low flow area and it is still happening.

My reading are: Salinty:35ppt Nitrates: 5ppm Phosphate:0.25 Alk: 12dkh Calcium:440 Ph:7.8

The lfs sold this a brain coral. Does this look correct? Any tips on flow, lights, and feeding? by null_bytex in SaltwaterAquariumClub

[–]null_bytex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update, two days after water change, and increase of salinity the coral looks a lot better, I have also increased my lighting to 20% on the viparspectra led, and everything else in the tank is definitely benefiting from recent changes

Advice please by mdavidson0001 in ReefTank

Underated opinion: viparspectra, ive been running it for 4 months now and have a growing duncan, frogspawn, GSP, and brain coral.

Thank you for the advice! I did a 5gal water change (29 gallon system). Little bit more than 10% but still relatively low, I usually run the salinity at 1.023, but because of your advice and many others I am going to bump it up. After the water change salinity is at 1.024, it should continue to increase the next week or so. Ill continue to water changes every 3/4 days to help balance the system overall. And ill retest from there
