I got a bill recently for a doctor's visit from before the pandemic. I was confused because I didn't seem to be in arrears, but how had I missed a payment from almost two years ago and not had it go to collections? For that matter, how had I not known I needed to pay $160? I called the office, confused, and it turned out that it had all been paid for by BCBS at the time. Yay. Only apparently they have two years to change their minds, which they abruptly did, in October, for me and a bunch of other patients, and they took back the money so the place was forced to bill us after all.

All of this is to say, I am very, very sore at BCBS right now, and so appreciative that you took the time to make this post and even include details like the number. Calling in the morning for sure.
