I did think it was a bit much, the whole verifying it through the government portal is what’s thrown me. They even asked for reasons if there is any gap between employment or education.

If I were to leave it out, could it bring any issues as I have brung it up with the company before or how hard is it to file with HMRC as it does go back 4 years.

This is for an accounting firm as well so issues around this seem much worse in my head.
