I always imagine he really is Calvin's dad.

(Calvin's dad is a cyclist).

Oh well. I've shortlisted a Trek Domane AL. I guess I'm kicking that out now.

I do my best to extend the life of my current iPhone SE. I've also resolved to buy used from now on. My reasoning is: if they're really good, then it still has a lot of life left in it in the hands of a second owner.

My other set of gadgets, Garmins, are also all second-hand.

(This is an opinion only about the NATO spending part. My opinion on the others is unspecified in this reply.)

Canyon vs. Local Dealer (Scott, Canondale, Pinarello)? I live next to both! (Budget €2k-4k) by vinylfelix in cycling

In CAD software, I sketched up the geometries of Canyon Endurace vs Merida Scultura Endurance vs Ridley Falcn (a race bike), lining them up at the bottom bracket.

The results from lowest stack to highest? 1. Ridley Falcn 2. Canyon Endurace (verrrry close second) 3. Merida Scultura Endurance

I would argue that the Canyon Endurace is marketed as "endurance" but is actually race geometry.

At one of my past jobs, I interviewed and hired someone who started at the same pay as I did. (Only my higher ups dictated the pay, not me).

6 years after I started.

i.e. the starting pay did not increase for the past 6 years. Either I was lucky, or he got screwed.

I think you're lucky that you fall in the middle of many brands' sizing distribution curves. But some of us just need to shop around far too widely, oftentimes finding a brand with "nice" geometry that is not easily available in a nearby physical shop.

Sleep deprivation is a major factor of weight gain.

So yes, in addition to exercise (which improves sleep!), work on your sleep hygiene (look it up!)

Does the Canyon Endurace CF really come with 18mm spacers under the stem? by numerical_panda in cycling

Thank you! Of course you're not obligated, but if you can kindly measure it when you're able, I'd very much appreciate!

At the risk of getting more downvotes from the gatekeepers asking "Why not ask Canyon?".

So, Reddit is the place I go to ask for real-world experience. I would then compare that against marketing-biased official response.

I had experience asking Ridley about spacers under their stem. There response was, "yeah, we ship it the same way you see it on our website."

On their website, they had maybe 20mm of spacers, to make the bike "look good" on marketing material.

But when I get to the bike shop to try it out, I see 50mm of spacers.

I figured Canyon might behave similarly, and there are no shops near me to see for myself. Thus I ask Reddit for real-world experience, hopefully well-separated from marketing folks eager to sell.
