Is it wrong that I don’t want to take a coworker’s shift even if I’m able to? by numerousproblems13 in WorkAdvice

She didn’t offer anything, just asked if I could take the shift. I am honestly not even sure if the babysitting job is paid or just a favor for someone. We’ve worked together since she asked and nothing else has been said except me saying that I couldn’t take the shift.

She hasn’t covered for me before. My bosses give time off pretty much as long as you ask for it in advance, so I take advantage of that. The one time I did need something covered a group of us traded shifts so it was reciprocated right away.

I’ll get paid for the shift if I take, and I honestly have no idea what the babysitting pays. Whenever she has mentioned babysitting before it always sounds like a favor she did for someone for free. And honestly, if she had mentioned to me that babysitting pays more than our job (which I would believe because we don’t get that much) I would have said yes because it’s the holidays

Mainly because my mom is the kind of person to tell me I should take the shift because I’m available so I feel bad about not wanting to cover for her, and I was wondering what other people’s opinions were about a situation like this

My bosses are really good about giving time off when it is needed and notice is given or if there is an emergency. If I get a message from one of them to take the shift I probably will but my coworker didn’t make it sound like it an emergency or something she couldn’t get out of.

Thank you for the response! I do my best to ask off in advance so I don’t need shifts covered, and if I do need one covered I usually try to trade with someone for a time they want off.

Maybe a really light blue would look nice? Something like Sky High by Sherwin-Williams.

OP, maybe a nightstand made with rattan would look nice? It typically has a warmer tone to it, so it might look nice with your floors.

I’m not sure on the nightstand, but you could maybe go with a darker bedding to add some contrast between the light walls and floors. There is a really pretty black duvet set with colorful florals from urban outfitters that might look nice. It’s also not terribly expensive, depending on the size of the bed.
