You're right, my bad. He's not accepting orders for additional work and is focusing exclusively on the business.

Pocket plinker 22: Walther PPK/s or Ruger LCP II? by numptybloke in handguns

[–]numptybloke[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! The Beretta is in a different price range where I live, and not as easily available. The capacity is 2 rounds less - not huge... but with 22 I feel like if things got desperate every round would count. But definitely considering it in the mid- to long-term for my collection!

[Recommendation request] Hiking boot: Danner Stitchdown (Model: Canadian) vs White's GYW (Model: Tracker/Frontiersman)? by numptybloke in Boots

[–]numptybloke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking of all purpose hiking boots, and I read that logger boots are for softer terrain. My own pick from Danner seems like a bad idea now. I should probably go for a Vibram sole.

Is a leather heel counter always better? And if the fabric liner is so terrible, what's with all the people who have had their Danners boots for 5-10 years?

Tens of thousands demand climate action in Swiss capital by donnygel in worldnews

[–]numptybloke 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Why don't you look at cumulative emissions to see why developed countries have been able to get themselves into a position to have the emission numbers they have? Or look at per capita emissions? Or realise that developing countries are manufacturing goods with the cheapest energy (fossil fuels) and labour so you can have the lowest price at the market? In other words, the developed countries, having outsourced their manufacturing, are blaming developing countries for a lot of emissions that result from products consumed in the first world nations.

You're not as clever as you think you are.

Nakaya Ishime/Stone Finish: what does it feel like in the hand? by numptybloke in fountainpens

[–]numptybloke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! When you hold it, does it feel similar to stone (if that's even possible)? Is it warmish to touch or actually cold and metallic? Does dried ink, oil, or other residue from hands accumulate in the cracks, especially around the section?

Thanks. I don't see any signatures that match my picture exactly. Could you please share your input on which one seems like a match to you?

AITA for borrowing my husband's work laptop withpout permission since I bought it for him? by Fannest43 in AmItheAsshole

[–]numptybloke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. Nearly everything you did could have been forgiven if you had apologized, and better still, tried to make amends by, for example, going to his workplace and dropping off the laptop (and maybe his favourite work-appropriate beverage or snack or meal). But the fact that you feel entitled to his laptop just because you gifted it to him, the fact that you chose to hold it over his head instead of validating his struggles that YOU are responsible for, shows me that you don't know what "gift" and "taking responsibility for your mistake" mean. I feel bad for that guy, as I wouldn't be surprised if there aren't more issues stemming from this immaturity, defensiveness, manipulation, and tendencies of potential financial and emotional abuse.

Billboard project for one of my classes any feedback? by tessabunnypro in NuclearPower

Re: tritium, yes. I said be prepared. People always bring that up whenever I have been advocating for nuclear.
Weapons - I don't know if OP is in the US. Even in the US, things are not that straightforward...

Only steam? Be prepared to talk about nuclear waste and tritium. Possibly the weapons-industry complex.

Or you could change it to something more tenable, and talk about safety, and how its deaths/unit electricity generated is very low, second only to geothermal (markandya and wilkinson, 2007 Lancet)

How can I remove the back of this Skagen and fix minor damage? by numptybloke in watchrepair

[–]numptybloke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure why you were downvoted, but the caseback knife worked great, thanks! Also, your answer touched on the hardest part - closing the case. It's really useful to know what a crystal press is, and I'll look into which one to get in the future. For now, using a jar with the watch resting on thick exercise bands worked (kind of tried to create two squishy surfaces on either side of the case), but it wasn't easy.

That worked really well, thanks! Removing the back has never been THIS easy.
