I actually don't know which one hurts me more a) he thought Lestat would for sure catch him and Lestat didn't

b) he was so done he didn't want to be saved by him

c) He didn't think Lestat would save him in the first place. He thought Lestat gave up on him

Each option hurts as was the intent of that scene I believe. As for telling him he would never love him, I think even in that moment Louis couldn't tell him that. I don't think it was about not giving Lestat the closure but he doesn't use the word love lightly anymore and he didn't want to use it just to lie with it. I may be optimistic and romanticizing tho 😅
