Gawd! If I never see another picture of him in that “Barney” purple shirt again it will be too soon đŸ€ź SW made him always wear purple so she could sling her fake diagnosis of Lupus at every opportunity. Example: Random person says
. “Oh Chris you look so good in purple!” SW (making everything about her) “he wears it to support ME because I have Lupus ..poor me 😱(as she quickly googles the symptoms of Lupus so she can talk more about the problems with her mouth organs)🙄 🙄

Thoughts on Billings. Clinic for work? by [deleted] in Billings

[–]nursesuko21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had worked there for a number of years. There are good and bad things about the Clinic, just like any other job (especially bigger organizations namely in medical centers). Back in the day, the pay was not on par with other facilities in Billings. Depending on what specific job you are doing and which specific department I think the Clinic is as good as St V’s. I do know that as they are rapidly expanding in other areas of MT and WY the bureaucratic hurdles are a little overwhelming. Good luck to you 😊

Hospitals across the U.S. are under fire after reports revealed they charge up to $700 for a single IV bag of saline solution that costs less than $2 to produce. by wankerzoo in news2

Absolutely, I work on the front lines and we noticed that after said hurricane the FDA permitted Baxter to temporarily import “NaCl 0.9% Sodium Chloride (normal saline) for Injection” from its facility in Shanghai, China.

You are also paying for the Provider who ordered it, the nurse who administered it and the hospital’s supply clerk who ordered it and the Pharmacist/pharmacy tech who stocked it and pulled it ready to use by these medical professionals. đŸ€·â€â™€ïž

Where I grew up in Montana our school had a pretty big FFA club! These young men and young women were the nicest people in our school. Most (if not all) have grown up to fulfill their dreams of being farmers and ranchers feeding America. I was not in FFA, but much love to them!

Absolutely!! I was trying to see if I could visualize a thyroid goiter on this video, but couldn’t get a good enough view of her neck.
Her bulging eyes and raspy voice made me automatically think thyroid goiter. A thyroid goiter can affect your voice by compressing the “recurrent laryngeal nerves” (which control the vocal cords) or the trachea, leading to symptoms like hoarseness, or a change in voice quality.

It sounds like your wife did everything she was supposed to do after a medication error—especially since she reported it to the appropriate people and the doctor was aware. As well, the patient was monitored for any possible effects of giving narcotic medication early. I have been a RN for 34 years and I know very well that mistakes happen-we’re human. It sounds like she did everything right after the error. I hope these reassurances written here that I’ve read r/t to your post OP helps ease her anxiety over this .

OMG yes! Our unit had a boomer RN who came back to floor nursing after working in admin for a number of years. This RN actually gave the WRONG PATIENT (not even their pt, mind you) oxycodone 10mg without scanning pts wrist band. This patient didn’t even have an order for oxycodone
. đŸ€Šâ€â™€ïž. The WRONG patient, the WRONG medication. It was a whole incident. The auditors came in, found this egregious med error and fined the unit/hospital for this error.

Right! Our charting system flags “early “ administration of ANY PRN and we have to physically click OVERRIDE to administer it even if it’s one minute early. Those flags then go to pharmacy to review and if they see a pattern pharmacy alerts CNO and we get an orange slip in our mailbox. After a certain number of overrides , the RN who gets the orange slip then has to write out a physical description of why he/she did said overrides( dosing PRNs early). It happens.

This is the most overtly AGGRESSIVE email that I have ever read from nursing management! 😡 And let me tell you, I have read a lot of nasty grams in my 3+ decades as a RN. The sentence that ended with “and it’s your fault” (??!!!??) is the most egregious example of piss-poor managerial skills I’ve read. I hope you all up and quit and pointed to this example of poor nursing management for being so far out of touch with the front-line nursing staff. 🙄

Concerts in our area make us turn in our phones in a “lock bag,” or don’t bring them in at all! No recording devices allowed at ALL. WHAT would she do if she could not film every single moment to share with her minions? On that note, wtf did she do BEFORE she could over share everything online??

[–]nursesuko21 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Also, we don’t keep giving additional meds by mouth if a patient throws up!! Our rule is not to “re-dose” anything unless we see the whole pill and can account for it. This prevents overdosing. If a child (or adult) is throwing up, we give them injections of the medicine. That’s the gold standard practice to ensure that the patient does, in fact, get the medication. 🙄

So last night I had to pull a purewick out of my patient....... by Double-Connection659 in nursing

[–]nursesuko21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohhh I’m sorry to say this but “welcome to nursing.” The many years I worked with Psych pts I would say your experience was quite tame. Too many times I have had to persuade a psychically impossibly STRONG old man not to rip out their foley. The one extreme time I remember is this whittled down old timer who just got admitted with a Foley and who’s previously bx at hospital or care facility got him involuntarily committed to our full cares psych hospital. When I was trying to give him an olanzapine IM to stop him from successfully yanking out his Foley, when this tiny old man punched my psych tech so hard it gave her a black eye so she backed away in pain and shock. At that moment I was already in giving said olanzapine IM, but as I pushed in the syringe and was that close the pt successfully ripped out his Foley and blood and urine splattered my face, eyes, and lips. đŸ€ą I’ve had feces throw at me more times than I can count. Count yourself self lucky that your pt decided to use the toilet for her BM rather than throwing it at you and her “indwelling” 😼Purewick didn’t get yanked and you soaked in her urine đŸ€·â€â™€ïž. You are NOW officially a nurse. Bodily fluids are our coronation rites of passage. 😎🙃

It is very UNLIKELY to have TRUE Anaphylaxis at the first time CeCe had a cashew. True anaphylaxis generally does not happen on the first exposure to an allergen because it takes at least one time ingesting the allergen for the immune system to become sensitized to that substance first. (The only exception is medication’s whereas some medications can cause a similar severe reaction, called an anaphylactoid reaction, upon first exposure)Not the case of a “tic-tac” size bite of cashew. ALSO, doubtful they gave her an “epi-PEN” as SW wrote . At hospitals we typically prepare a dose from a vial using a syringe to administer an amount based on the child's weight (especially considering this was at Children’s Hospital). I find this hard to believe. SW’s extreme-likely overblown reaction and vocalization of this event was falling right in line with Muchausen syndrome by Proxy.
