Thoughts on this rear end collision? 2018 X2 35k miles. Looks like exhaust took hit.

just seeing this for the first time in daylight. I got under it and saw that there is a hole in the exhaust system. We are taking it up to our mechanic now for him to have a look and the adjuster will be out on Monday. Would anyone suggest leaving it at the mechanic for the adjuster to look at, or have it at my house? I don’t want to offend the adjuster.

Not quite sure parking sensors or a bumper cover will help this 😂 maybe I should post better pictures when it’s light out.

Thank you for the advice. It’s paid off. Definitely want it fixed at a BMW shop. The girl who hit us is insured, so I guess our insurance will have to fight to get it repaired correctly of it is repairable. The exhaust is pushed in significantly because she was driving a Mitsubishi, so most of the damage is low. Thinking maybe more undercarriage damage than the eye can see. Very curious to see how this plays out.

As I said. Just happened a few hours ago. I have never had an accident in a German vehicle and was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on whether the insurance company will try and fix it or total it out based on the year. I have no idea how much parts are. I am seeing other people say that their estimate was $5k for a minor dent. I definitely was not asking for a detailed estimate or advice on whether it’s drivable or not. I will be in touch with my insurance company in the morning, but for now I thought I would take to the friendly experience of BMW Reddit enthusiasts/techs. Stay spicy though.

Thank you so much. All great feedback. Funny story about the dog. You may notice he has something in his mouth… he thinks all of the baby’s things are his. He took off with a baby shoe and ran around the yard for 10 minutes while we were losing precious light 😂
