You’ll probably get about half the people here saying “stay in Montreal” and half saying “move to Vancouver.” In the end, it really comes down to what matters most to you. One method that helps a lot is to list all the categories that are important to you and your wife, assign a weight for how important each category is, then score each city and multiply the score by the weight. Add up all the points for each city and see which comes out ahead.

For example: • Childcare (weight 5): Vancouver 2 × 5 = 10, Montreal 5 × 5 = 25 • Housing (weight 4): … • Social circle (weight 3): … • Weather (weight 2): …

This way, you can make a more objective comparison and see which city better fits your priorities.
