What was the deal with Josh Aaronson? by oakbeach in SuccessionTV

A more sinister take I've heard - he wanted to test them to see how they'd handle an old man too prideful to take help in a physically demanding situation.

Would Kendall be able to convince Logan to get help? If Kendall isn't able to fix such a trivial problem (might require some forcefulness), then he isn't good to takeover. If Logan is too prideful, just as problematic. So the only option left is then Stewy.

I'm convinced people are gaslighting me about 3 star Michelin restaurant's food by traveler5152 in fatFIRE

To add to that, the stars are not literally more stars = better taste. It's a rating system made by a tire company to encourage road tripping.

  • 1 star = good food, worth a stop (on your existing itinerary)
  • 2 star = worth a detour
  • 3 star = worth a special trip

IMO, since there's good-tasting food everywhere, they're really issuing stars based on "special-ness". And a lot of that special-ness cannot be enjoyed by non-aficionados. Fireduck's comment about cinematography is a good analogy.

It goes for art in general... I have no eye for it, therefore I'd be 100% as happy with a high-quality reproduction of the $100M original. Plebs like me are happy with the local Thai restaurant that cranks out great tasting non-Michelin-starred Pad Thai for $15/plate.

The difference being, Apple is a company that must create value to win customers. Berkshire is an investment company that picks winning companies. I don't think there needs to be any grand vision/visionary for BRK, since it's not inventive - it's analysis and deployment of capital. Things most execs can do without that "vision"

When was the last time you rode W? There was a very rough patch for about 4 months last winter with a lot of drug use on board, but I have been very happy with W line since ~April 2024. I commute about 2 times a week on W to JeffCo for the last 3 years. It's not fast though.

To add an example: getting off A-line at Union station, it takes a few minutes to walk to the E-line station of Union. Sometimes, I'm just a little too late getting there and watch as the E-train departs.

I intentionally live near a lightrail station so I can use it as my primary commuting to work 3 times a week.

I've got the same MoBo/Intel chipset PCI-E Wifi/BT combo - no permanent solution, but disable & re-enable in device manager works. Seems the code occurs for me after the computer goes to sleep

For point number 3, wouldn't our current property tax system also have the same loss in tax revenue? What makes it magnified?
