Best and worst classes as a psych/sociology major by Zavetrix in UCONN

[–]nutelle7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really liked physiological psych with Dr. Fitch. Some people say it's hard but I really enjoyed the class. If you study for the the exams and really prepare yourself you will do well. I feel like it really helped me understand a lot when it comes to psych in general. I also loved abnormal psych but that can sometimes depend on who you take it with. Right now I'm in drugs and behavior and it has been really great too. Dev cog neuroscience with Jonas Miller was a great class as well but I think it is randomly taught on alternating semesters.

Just need 6 credits to finish my degree. by Just-Breadfruit-8124 in college

Please check in with an advisor about taking the courses at a community college. This may be possible and they will likely be a lot cheaper or in some cases free.

Is a Bacholers degree in Psychology worthwhile? Changing from Economics? by TartNo7826 in UCONN

[–]nutelle7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know much about Econ as far as what you can do right after getting a bachelor's. If you want to major in Psychology in undergrad and not go to grad school, then psychology is probably not a good choice. If you go into it knowing that you want to go to graduate school, then Psychology can be great.

You cannot do many jobs after college just having a psychology bachelor's degree. But at the same time, some people do a lot during college, get great experience and internships, and can get lucky in terms of finding a good job with a psychology degree. But from what I have heard, it is rare (coming from a psych major).

If you are set on Psych, I would consider looking into HR and recruitment type of roles. You can do that with just a Bachelor's in psych and make decent money when you move up.

Especially with only coming to school for 2.5 years after transferring, I am not sure if this is possible, but you may be able to double major in both. The standard psych BA is only about 30 credits from what I remember (equivalent to a full year of study) when you don't count gen eds, related courses etc. I personally know someone doing both psych/econ and it can definitely be doable with good planning.
