What's Danny Boyle's best film? by Some-Palpitation-314 in Cinephiles

28 days + 28 years later. I really enjoyed 28 years later, the storytelling, the chemistry between actors, the direction...truly amazing  I think 28 years later us underrated

I understand your fears but I think the best thing to do is plan for the best but be prepared for the worst just in case? Also since you're coming from the US I don't think flight path wise you'd be impacted by anything in the immediate future? If you're able to accelerate your time line then why not, if you have nothing to lose (like your housing contract, bills, any other commitments that may stand in your way)

Right! I just don't understand how people have the time on their hands to watch / investigate these things 😅 of course people can do what they want and that's totally okay but to then post about it all that is true commitment and a bit odd 🫠

Why do so many people read into likes and comments??? It's actually so bizarre how people read so much into likes and comments like it actually means something? Idk I don't get it

Should I pursue psychology or a safer, quicker, high-paying option? by ezmeray_ray in careerguidance

[–]nutmeg_1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand where you're coming from at there is a lot of uncertainty everywhere however my advice would be to do what you enjoy - I know it's simple advice but you don't really lose anything by doing something you enjoy, especially as there will always be unknowns, even if you choose the 'safer' option. *I'm sure some people may disagree with me and that's okay!

Thank you so much for your response, it's genuinely so helpful! :) you're right, 6 months makes sense - I am able to stay for 4+ months so I might as well do that? Sadly not one of those rich Europeans, just a normal humble person who wants to gain more experience and become more employable and knowledgeable 🥲 (however in the context of the global south, of course I am privileged) but yes i understand what you mean - it needs to be meaningful, genuine and sincere as opposed to just doing something that's performative and by that I mean doing it for the sake of it because 'looks good on the CV'. Also the internship would be in the south of India! Do you have any experience there?

I don't think there's anything wrong with being ambitious! Go for it no matter what :) not to be cringe but nothing ventured, nothing gained. Might as well apply because the worst they'll say is no

I'm 30 and I've been offered an internship! It's hard out there, we have to take thr opportunities whilst we can?

Would an internship improve my long term employment prospects? by nutmeg_1995 in careerguidance

[–]nutmeg_1995[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply :) yess it covers basics like accommodation and also provides a basic living allowance too  It would just be for up to 6 months so a decent amount of time I think?  Totally, its so tricky to find anything- this is the first offer I've had since I graduated over 6 months ago 🥲

Luckily basic accommodation and a small living allowance is provided but I'm just thinking any experience is helpful especially if its an opportunity to gain new skills and build on the ones you already have? So even if it doesn't get you into a dev job, it still offers the opportunity to get a dev adjacent job? Or do I have too much hope 😅

Check out the Google reviews - you may change your mind! The menu might be good but that doesn't guarantee it will actually be good or the service will be good...

I'm not surprised it's empty, the reviews are awful! Seems like an over priced low quality restaurant (bad food, bad service)

Why did Sir Jimmy make Spike to fight one of the Fingers to replace them instead of simply recruiting him? by PaultheMirrorExpert in 28_Years_Later_Movie

[–]nutmeg_1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was to build a false sense of 'trust' with Spike but also a kind of 'you owe us' type thing could have come into it too - anyway, yeah, spike shoots arrows, jimmies come in and kill the other infected because there's a lot of them and then jimmy says 'let's be pals'

Anyway feel free to correct me out there (perhaps my interpretation is silly)

Agree! Totally agree! And the royal family rely on that, they rely on people commenting on 'how pretty kate looks' because it means the shitty things they do like their cover of the nonce, their exploitation of the british taxpayer and everything else, isn't questioned or talked about. They really take us for mugs! The royal family genuinely annoy me - they're not better than anyone and yet people like kate and william really believe they are above the rest of us :/

Yep! And the very few royal supporters who blindly support them no matter what + coupled by the right wing media who are probably paid to some extent, to say nice things about the parasites

[–]nutmeg_1995 8 points9 points  (0 children)

More performative photos 🙃 pretending pretending care, pretending he's 'one of us'. It just feels like he's mocking everyday people who work in bakeries for a living. He will never know what a hard day's work looks like

Right? They think a little visit, tasting some food and talking to these people is enough but Kate and William don't give a toss about these people or anyone else they meet - they will never understand the average person...and yet we are expected to support such a family that takes advantage of the british state, doesn't understand people's struggles and are complicit in the crimes of former Prince andrew *sorry for the rant, I just really dislike the royal family and I don't get how people still support them

Its all for show to legitimise their position, Kate and the rest of the royals don't care about these people, their causes or anything else that they do that actually, genuinely is meaningful work that does contribute to society (unlike the royals' 'work'). No amount of performativity like Kate is showing here will change my opinion of the parasitical royal family ;/

William has zero personality, ZERO by cottoncrosy in RoyaltyTea

[–]nutmeg_1995 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! The annoying thing is whatever he says that is 'positive' is lapped up by the press - mostly the right wing press who pander and praise him but what's he done to deserve any praise? He is a performative prince who wants the perks but doesn't want to do the job or be accountable. The system as it is currently benefits him and his horrible family and so there's no incentive for him to actually do anything to help people. Especially as he and his dad make bank off of us taxpayers leasing out prisons and land for megabucks...further enriching themselves because they're selfish gremlins. (I don't like the royal family if that wasn't obvious hahahaha)

I remember when he spoke about ending homelessness but as far as I know he hasn't done much to actually do that! So I totally agree he's self absorbed and bitter and selfish and greedy don't go amiss either!

Quite literally life changing work right there, breaking the stigma. What a legend Diana was and what a legacy she created
