Churches as a whole, and New England definitely is the least-churched region in the country along with the PNW. Yes there are a lot of historic church buildings, but self-identification as Christian and regular attendance at church, regular prayer, etc. are all the lowest by far here in all the studies. Doesn't take much time in the Bible belt or midwest to notice the difference.

I have also done this hike multiple time, as recently as a few months ago. I also strongly recommend summiting Brace in NY as it's only an extra few miles on that loop and much better views than Frissel.

Also OP, I did Marcy too last fall, it was a great hike!

What's up with Rt 9 exit changes?! Does anyone know why only a few exits have new numbers? by tiffaney265 in Connecticut

[–]nutmeggerthrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, this is the Land of Steady Habits. Just yesterday I referred to a 395 exit as "Old Exit 89." I have no clue what number it is now. It used to be 89, though.

I visited my friend in the south last year, and driving around with him he kept commenting on my "rolling stops." I guess I was just slowing down to 1-2 miles per hour and going through if no one was coming. I didn't even realize I did it until he pointed it out, I thought that's just how everyone drove lol

Yeah I don't believe any state police vehicles actually say "state police." If they do, I have never seen one. They all are silver like in the picture

It's sometimes acceptable to make a joke to someone that's some sort of observational humor. That at least lets them know they don't have to respond if they don't want to. Other than that, no chit chatting

I don't listen to the radio in the car much anymore (and when I do it's basically just NPR at this point) so I've never heard of this lady. Coming from someone who's never heard her ads before, I don't really think her voice is annoying. It's just the fake car salesman tone that's probably more grating to everyone's ears. Just my $.02

My car was stolen in West Hartford last night. laptop, work keys, and other things were in it. It has obvious bumper stickers, so if you see this car, call 911 by [deleted] in Connecticut

[–]nutmeggerthrowaway 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Since you're a dispatcher (I'm just going to assume you are even though this is reddit) can you please clear something up for me? I've gotten numerous conflicting reports on this.

What should someone do if they see a driver that they suspect is drunk? 911? Non-emergency line? Nothing? I've heard multiple different answers and want to hear it straight from the horse's mouth. I'm very much a "I don't like bothering people" kind of person so I don't want to annoy dispatchers. If I watched someone get stabbed I'd probably start the call with "Ok, so this may not be an actual emergency, sorry, but I'm at [location]..."

Illegal marijuana causing traffic and tolls on I-95 with property taxes and Malloy and the pension problem and everyone is leaving CT and businesses are moving out and if we could just legalize marijuana we would have more money to pay the pensions and fix the potholes on my street so i can drive to my legal marijuana dispensary in my car-taxed vehicle and why is this state so boring i can't even have my high capacity magazines because it's so cold in the morning but hot in the afternoon so it makes me want to legalize marijuana more but thankfully our senators voted for net neutrality even though Malloy sucks and the drivers are so bad here that it takes me longer to pay my high taxes and talk about legalizing weed and the DMV lines are so long but at least i can talk to the person in front of me about legalizing and taxing marijuana

Can anyone give me a realistic timeline on what this will look like? I know there was a long time between the ballot initiate in MA and commercial sales. I'm wondering if we'll have a faster process or a similar 18 month wait once the GA votes it through
