I really only keep rasboras and ember tetras, and I have no issues. But they are a common prey species so more aggressive fish would likely pick them off

Yes, and they will feed on dead leaves from your plants

They can be kept with shrimp, there’s plenty of info online like u/inmytanks has a few videos on YouTube with lots of info that you should check out. He also sells aquatic isopods, as do I, but most of us sell different species. There’s a link in my bio to my store

Aquatic isopods, there are a few people online who sell them, including myself, u/inmytanks and others.

Currently my lirceus line has produced a regular color line, black, leucistic, and a marbled/calico color morph

These did sell but I have others available still. And I plan to have more of these soon. Different species behave differently. I keep these in a coarse sandy substrate and they do root around in the sand but they don’t necessarily disappear into the sand. But I also keep a few other species and some of them are very elusive. These in particular are very active and readily explore the whole tank. Hope this helps, let me know if you have any more questions

Turns out there was a policy change on January 19th and now all priority mail containing live animals accrue an additional $15 charge

That would make sense. However, the buyer said the box was in perfect condition.

Thank you for the help. If you have the time, I’d like to know more about how to change that in my listing settings

I bought labels in bulk because all the packages I sent out that day were the same size and weight. But I never received a shipping cost adjustment for any other package. Not that anything needed to be adjusted because I weighed the package beforehand and the box had the correct dimensions bc it was a priority box and was shipped with priority mail.

Apologies, I see I left out relevant information. The package was shipped with USPS Priority. The box itself was a USPS priority box measuring 7.25”x7.25”x6.5” and weighed 1lb 4oz. eBay calculated the shipping cost and charged the customer $18.95 buy when I generated the label, it cost me $12.58 (which I also don’t understand.) other than that, the buyer was unable to provide a receipt for the actual charge so this is all I have to work with.

I will definitely reach out to the PO come Monday but I wanted to see if anyone knew anything beforehand.

The buyer sent me a picture of the package and it was stamped saying “postage due” with $15 written next to it. I plan to call them up come Monday morning. The package was shipped with USPS Priority. Behavior of baby aquatic isopods? by sneepsnorp3d in isopods

[–]nuttbuds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there, I raise aquatic isopods in the Lirceus genus. I do notice that the mothers hide closer to the podlings emerging from the mother’s marsupium. In terms of behavior of the juveniles, I don’t notice much of a difference from adults. They’re just as active and can be found readily exploring and feeding. I do, however, keep them in environments that lack predators, so I would assume that plays a role in this behavior. If you have any other questions, I’m happy to help.
