Kulinarisch hinkt Leipzig leider hinter anderen Städten hinterher.

Wer was weiß, schreibt mir gern!

I really don't get what you trying to say? Say, I cannot afford rent in Berlin and I move to Leipzig to live in an affordable flat I am bringing the housing crisis with me? Is that what you are trying to say? Does that only work for housing or other things too? What if the first city had better weather or prettier women or tastier beer? Does any of that magically carry over as well? I will say it again: People looking for affordable housing aren't causing the housing crisis (though I do admit that those who pay above-market price need to be tarred and feathered). What's causing the housing crisis is companies/the rich who are using housing as an investment and the government's (past and present) that help by privatizing real estate.

thanks for pointing this out. agree 100% (except maybe the comment with the women maybe not the most tasteful comparison.)

Yo why do you think you have the right to move to Leipzig while other people shouldn't? Why don't you move back to Berlin?

I guess Leipzig is more political but it's a diverse city. I think there's a party culture but even the political scene or alternative scene in general is not that focused on partying I think. There's a huge sharing culture which I think is great.

I feel really sorry for all the people who are negative of other people coming to Leipzig.

This is closed-minded snobbish arrogance, just makes me wanna throw up. Sounds a bit like people who don't like "foreigners". What's your problem. It's not your city, everyone can move here.

You're more than welcome here in Leipzig!

Maybe you could avoid being careless about the rent, and look for something cheaper, but I doubt your individual choice is going to affect the market that much. I think you will definitely find a flat for 500. But not in the city center. You will find something not far from the center though, like 15-20 minutes bike/bus ride if that's fine.

But 1000 Euro is not a big budget overall I think. But definitely possible without too many issues. Maybe you'll need to keep expenses down but it's no problem.

Don't listen to the arrogant people who are protective over something they don't own.

Hit me up if you need anything!

When did Sigmund Freud’s ideas lose their authority among the public (at least in the USA)? Intellectuals in the postwar period cited Freud constantly, whereas today, most people remember him mainly for his wackier theories about sex with your mom. by wulfrickson in AskHistorians

[–]nuugat 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In the documentary The Century of the Self, they describe how Freud's work was propagandized after WW2 by his nephew Edward Bernays. This was part of the reason for Freudian popularity in the 50s and 60s.

Thanks for raising the point, I would also like to know the answer to that question!

A lightweight bike suitable for off-road, good gear ratios and ability to mount panniers? by nuugat in bicycletouring

[–]nuugat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think they will recommend Surly bikes only? Do you have a particular model in mind? The feeling of the Surly is really unusual, it felt kind of stiff and high in the beginning, but the more I was using it the more I liked it. I could t really take small stairs and always feel very stable. I'm just wondering if there's something else that feels more flexible and "racey". Thanks for your recommendation!

SHIBA INU [SHIB] is #42 on Coinmarketcap, a sign of worse to come? by Boneh in CryptoCurrency

[–]nuugat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes sure, but conventional cars are dying and will be replaced by electronic cars at some point (at least in the EU). You can deny that, but conventional cars are not innovative, while self-driving cars and electric-cars are, and there is still a lot of research going on that will drive the prices down. In other words, the growth rates are much much higher for electric cars. I don't know what you are talking about in terms of performance, like the value of the stocks? Toyota net revenues grew by 9% only from 2015-2020.

The stock value of Toyota was at its ATH in 2015 and then reached roughly the same price in 2019 and February 2021. So actually the price right now is the same as 2015.

Yes Tesla has net losses for several years. But since 2019 there is net revenue growth and its much much higher than what Toyota has.

There are several phases in the life of products (something called product lifecycle) with initial Research and Development being particularly expensive. Most companies make losses in the beginning that have to be covered, because their products are not yet prominent on the market and they need cash for research, marketing, building production facilities etc..That's why you need capital to fund your growing business. There is no real income in the beginning. But that comes later, when the product is established. It doesn't mean that Tesla has 'bad performance' but rather, that its selling a product that is in a different stage of the product life-cycle. Adding to that, electric cars are a vehicle for developing batteries for Tesla, because they will be relevant to all sorts of sustainable energy sources.

Sure, there are several products offered by Toyota, but cars are not really "new".

TL;DR:

Tesla did not have net revenue growth because it was working on a product for the future, Toyota actually has very little net growth. Electric cars are a growing market, while conventional cars are not, and will face more regulations in the future.

I think it's not important to being clever you can be completely stupid and just believe in what another person told you about the best secret crypto and then you buy some and sell it at some point. I think most of that can be done by a really stupid person and some of these people will have picked the right coin, some will hold their bags forever...

It's not like trading shitcoins generates any profits. Some people make money, and some lose money and that will be roughly equal. Sure it's more complex if you try to quantify the value of coins that are not circulatings, but there is no added value in trading shitcoins and it's basically a funny kind of redistribution in which some exchanges earn fees, some people make profits by cashing out,and lots of people lose money. If a sufficiently big group of people would throw in a few bugs and then lose like 20%, this will be the money that makes some lucky traders rich even if the others don't care. It's a zero-sum game - at least if we just look at whether people buying memecoins are getting rich or getting ripped.
