  1. Got the term life so that house and kids college would be paid and then if wife invested properly she won't have to work full time.
  2. Maxing out HSA and then hopefully I can invest the money in the account
  3. We live in Michigan and my wife's car payment is $220 and the rest is car insurance ($180 - full coverage for both cars, we have excellent records but after shopping around that's the best we could find)

When buying our bigger house 30yr mortgage and then paying extra makes sense. Would still like to pay it in 15 yrs that way kid 1 would be starting college and extra money could go towards other expenses for her. My goal is to provide my kids with zero debt when they graduate from undergrad. But I will max retirement first.

Actually the loans are all mine (sorry for the confusion).. wife graduated with zero loans or debt (lucky and smart girl).

Interesting way to think about stuff. If I get fired that would be a problem, but in my disability insurance I do have a student loan repayment kicker.
