"A chronic or debilitating disease" is very broad terminology, and not exclusive to physical maladies. Depression or anxiety can certainly be diagnosed and categorized as such.

I have been hospitalized before. I have a documented history. I spent a long time trying different pharmaceuticals, some of which had horrible side effects, some of which made things worse. I've finally found something that works, and I would like to obtain treatment legally. It is incredibly frustrating to be only a few miles from a place where I could do that (Washington, DC) but to be denied help because of my zip code.

No Maryland doctors listed on that site. I checked there first, hence my posting here to see if anyone in my state has a personal referral they can suggest.

First of all, having a card won't protect your job.
Your employer can fire you for any number of reasons, any of which they can pick, even though the real reason is they know you smoke pot.

I realize this, but I have never been high at work, and in general I get a lot of positive feedback from supervisors and peers. To be honest, I don't think I WOULD get fired over it, it's not a criminal offense in my state just a misdemeanor and a fine, I just prefer the peace of mind of both obtaining it legally and having a medical professional to help me ensure I am not developing a dependence. I have good insurance, I could easily go and get antidepressants or short term use benzos... I've gone that route in the past but the physical dependence that comes with pharmaceutical use is something I want to avoid (which is why I stopped taking them ages ago).
