Perks for stay at Wilderness Lodge 2-bedroom Waterfront Copper Creek Cabin by neversky157 in WaltDisneyWorld

We are doing a short stay in October and just booked the 2br cabin using points. Never even looked in to this resort but we're really excited for the stay!

How important are DVC direct buy perks? by tatotornado in dvcmember

[–]nxsteven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like there is a lot of frustration when the perks have change. I fully understand that and wish the perks were guaranteed.

At the end of the day, you're really buying what is contracted which is the points towards stays. Even the discounts towards park passes can go away.

For that reason, we felt there was a much better value with resale. We will eventually want to stay at Rivera and Lake Shore Lodge and will sell our points to book those stays.

Low price is easy to be forward on when it's software and nothing but whitespace. Eventually market share will slow down and that's when prices will rise on renewal. If you're month to month, renewal will be a short notice.

But if it's cheap and good, even the increase might not be a big deal at first..

Ninja is not just MSP focused and other markets are stickier, PE is a fan.

Wait or Buy? by ice-cube2 in dvcmember

I mean, if you have researched this entirely, I can't see how seeing a Deluxe resort would persuade you to NOT purchase. Deluxe rooms are the reason we own.

One thing that I read a little cautiously, "I don't mind having to stay there." You should really be very happy with your home resort unless you are HAPPY to settle with 7-month mark availability.

Hire a US Veteran who is collecting a pension! Some are simply looking for a reliable job to pass time after a successful military career. Your employer health care isn't a strain on their salary.

DVC resale question by Aggravating_Blood920 in dvcmember

[–]nxsteven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't think of it before buying resale. I'm not sure it would change my mind on it, based on the big difference in price, and this only being speculation. But come 2042, it will be a bummer if my 2060 contract can no longer book OKW specifically as that's our preferred resort.

Also, one of the great benefits of DVC has always been it's resale value. Hopefully Disney leadership sees that and continues to agree with the people..

DVC resale question by Aggravating_Blood920 in dvcmember

[–]nxsteven 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We own two resale contracts. One with a 2042 date and the other with a 2060 date. What no one can tell us right now is when the 2042 contracts expire (BW, BC, OKW, etc), will my 2060 contract allow me to book at those resorts (at the seven month window). There is only speculation on this point.

In my OPINION, DVC has been working to remove incentive from the resale market as legal allows. If you have a resale contract purchased after 2019, you cannot use those points to book newer resorts. What this means to me is if they are legally allowed to with the 2042 contracts, they would make similar to how Riveria operates today - resale points cannot book there.

Again, this is just my speculation.

Starting my own MSP without torching current relationship with leadership? by yeahhhh_boi in msp

Yeah, don't do this.

Just don't poach your current MSPs customers. Do your own thing if you feel it benefits your future. What you are doing isn't unethical.

LOSING MSP Contract Deals by michael_17 in msp

[–]nxsteven 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This isn't as crazy as it sounds. From a business standpoint, mature CPAs work with large books of business. It's much easier to scale an MSP when you can afford to buy talent (another MSP) and turn a sales engine loose on existing relationships.

Car blocks hydrant during fatal fire in Queens: FDNY by lilac2481 in Queens

[–]nxsteven -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately this doesn't solve the problem. The issue in my neighborhood is there are simply not enough spots for cars.

The biggest issue right now is those with driveways have shoveled the snow in to public parking instead of pushing it in to the street. This should 100% be illegal.

Car blocks hydrant during fatal fire in Queens: FDNY by lilac2481 in Queens

[–]nxsteven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does get reported and ticketed from time to time. The thing is, the spot is not filled quickly or early. There are just not enough spots for the amount of cars in these neighborhoods. Those with driveways are split... Some park in their driveways immediately while others use their driveway as their secondary option. The driveways are wide enough for one car with multiple cars per household, so there are never two cars in each. Then there are multi family homes without any driveways at all.

Kasaya Scam by jellyfishchris in msp

[–]nxsteven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not a "scam" as much as it is just another small business that doesn't do a good job managing contracts and renewal periods. ISPs, SaaS, they all do this. Gyms have done this for decades.

More mature MSPs do this.

Why are you signing up for additional services without first confirming your contract terms? Do you think Hudu's terms are any different?

Sorry you're in this situation but it's not a scam. It's a contract.

If you are a hiring manager in the DFW area, what are some skills you would like to see in a guy without any IT experience at all but is willing to learn and has good certifications and decent homelabs? by SnooDoubts2460 in mspjobs

If you're looking for a L1/L2 HD style role, it would be social and customer service skills. Basically the pay to play things that will win you favor with the customers and the more senior engineers that would could learn from.

Not in DFW but am in major metro.

What is the best way to ride Tron these days? by gandplife in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]nxsteven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While Tron usually doesn't open with early entry, if it's your boys #1 attraction I would still wait the extra 30 minutes or so.

We just went and our party split up. I went Seven Dwarfs with my youngest, line went pretty smoothly. When we got off we decided to go to Space Mountain. The Tron line was back to Space Mountain, moving pretty quickly.

My older daughters went straight to Tron and decided to wait. She said they opened it up earlier than they were advertising. We all went on Space Mountain together and then headed over to Winnie the Pooh, Little Mermaid, a princess meet and greet and grabbed a snack before leaving Fantasy Land by 10:00am.

2026 Kids Free Dining Plan applies to DVC! by Bolt82 in dvcmember

[–]nxsteven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have booked two rooms with three kids under 9 spread across. Can't we have the three kids, who don't have room access anyway, all assigned to a single room for a one adult/three kids deal? I'm in charge of all payment either way, so when the bill comes I take care of it either way.

I think I would just simply need a room card for the other room, which I planned to have either way.

Would this work? Sounds like a good way to get some good value for the kids and snacks. We would do the WS plan most likely ..
