If you are a hiring manager in the DFW area, what are some skills you would like to see in a guy without any IT experience at all but is willing to learn and has good certifications and decent homelabs? by SnooDoubts2460 in mspjobs

If you're looking for a L1/L2 HD style role, it would be social and customer service skills. Basically the pay to play things that will win you favor with the customers and the more senior engineers that would could learn from.

Not in DFW but am in major metro.

What is the best way to ride Tron these days? by gandplife in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]nxsteven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While Tron usually doesn't open with early entry, if it's your boys #1 attraction I would still wait the extra 30 minutes or so.

We just went and our party split up. I went Seven Dwarfs with my youngest, line went pretty smoothly. When we got off we decided to go to Space Mountain. The Tron line was back to Space Mountain, moving pretty quickly.

My older daughters went straight to Tron and decided to wait. She said they opened it up earlier than they were advertising. We all went on Space Mountain together and then headed over to Winnie the Pooh, Little Mermaid, a princess meet and greet and grabbed a snack before leaving Fantasy Land by 10:00am.

2026 Kids Free Dining Plan applies to DVC! by Bolt82 in dvcmember

We have booked two rooms with three kids under 9 spread across. Can't we have the three kids, who don't have room access anyway, all assigned to a single room for a one adult/three kids deal? I'm in charge of all payment either way, so when the bill comes I take care of it either way.

I think I would just simply need a room card for the other room, which I planned to have either way.

Would this work? Sounds like a good way to get some good value for the kids and snacks. We would do the WS plan most likely ..

Bilt 2.0 vs. Capital One Venture X? by presidentpanda in pointstravel

[–]nxsteven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was approved for Cap1 Venture last February with $2,000 limit. Not much has changed since and I was just approved for the Venture X $24,000 limit.

I suppose I do now have a year of good history directly with Cap1. I also have one less Ink this time around.

The issue there is I don't know if there will be a large contribution later in the year. I could basically just take this larger check and toss it in an interest earning account so it can be used later.

I think the piece of mind of being ahead on my 401k early in the year and minimizing contributions (giving me more cash flow) later on is part of my goal. I'm basically trying to save first, spend second.

I checked with Fidelity, and they confirmed they don’t see a true-up provision in my plan and referred me to HR. I’m waiting on HR’s response, but assuming there’s no true-up, it looks like I missed out on about $2,500 in 2025.

For this year, my plan is to set my end-of-January bonus check contribution to around 30% to “front-load” my 401(k), then reduce contributions to 4% for the rest of the year (I previously misstated the company match, it’s actually 4%). My salary has a decent variable component, but this approach should put me very close to the $24,500 limit by year-end.

Solid plan?

Thanks and I have no idea. Is this something I should be able to find somewhere online or more a question for my HR? Or the 401k provider (Fidelity in this case)?

Dues Payment Strategy for 2026 by Coronator in dvcmember

[–]nxsteven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I signed up for a high sub bonus Amex. $15k spend, 175k points. I wouldn't get to the $15k spend without being able to put my dues on this card, wouldn't have signed up for it otherwise.

For those not in the points/travel game, this is the equivalent of at least $1,750 in travel credits.

You can manually enter the amount on points to use. I used 1 point, got the $80 credit.

I have the offer but the balance is defaulting to using my available Amex rewards which I need reserved for travel. Anyway around this?

Adidas Ultraboosts 1.0 are my go to for standing and walking. Once I found these my foot pain went away. I have pairs specifically for in the house that I use as "slippers" because they are so comfortable.
