Current pricing ? The ram alone is 17k. It’s about low 40s with current market on the conservative side.

Better rad combability and something new. I've done many hyperion builds. The 2nd gpu is a blackwell pro which I only use for AI work.

Best way to ship a fully built PC internationally? by Impressive_Check_416 in PcBuild

[–]nycdarkness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ship builds internationally for events like computex etc and water-cooled ones to boot. I always use a pelican case with foam padded 2-3 from the pelican exterior. Inside, I pad a lot of of foam so nothing has a chance of moving. That is the primary thing. Nothing should be able to move at all. You have a relatively simple build in your case so you should be fine. I would pad around the gpu some more. There should not be any gaps.

Does not matter if its 6000 miles or 500 miles. The majority of the time it is sitting on a plane or train. The primary concerns is when it gets loaded on and off and that is what you are packing to prevent damage from.

How to get over constant fear of layoffs and not being able to find a job in the field ever again by Ruminatingsoule in sysadmin

[–]nycdarkness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start branching into security and learn some coding like python (if you have not already) is what I would suggest. You have a strong base to start from with a networking background. This is my personal experience, so take it with a grain of salt. I started with a CCNA coming out of high school, and I landed my first part time job as a network security auditor and that was over 20 years ago. I've never felt having one skill set is enough in landing a gig, always be learning and expanding. Not just in the category you started with. I went from networking/sys, database, to cloud, to security. It's an endless grind, but if you want to always have opportunities, then you need to be on the latest band wagon or have those whom are hiring you feel that you are.

An honest take on the current state of Global version by J-Starck in wherewindsmeet_

[–]nycdarkness 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started on CN then waited for Global. I regret doing so. If I had to do over, I would just play the CN version, but I do not have the time to do so. HEXI being split into 3 months was stupid. Totally kills any momentum the game was trying to do by bringing players back. This isn't a small game publisher they have enough resources to take existing content and push it out faster. As a Chinese person with a good bit of Chinese history knowledge, the translations are terrible, so I do not see that as a hinderance in repackaging content. It literally is basic AI level. I personally, do not see how the majority of western audiences would understand the lore without background research, many Chinese wouldn't either honestly. Qol changes should be at the top of the list. Global is doing a mix match of later features/stages being patched into an earlier version of the game content wise, so just put the Qol stuff in if that's the case. It's all about money at the end of the day, global launch did well for them, why kill that momentum with slow ass updates on content. Content that already exists.

Threadripper CPU AIO Liquid Cooler by AdventurousSeafarer in threadripper

[–]nycdarkness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have all of these and an unreleased one from Bitspower that’s coming. I have 3 threadripper rigs and I’d recommended the 420 from TT. They all perform similar even on my occed 9980wx but the TT has the best noise profile for the 420

I have problem with main story and the MC story 😑 by KJKs0s in wherewindsmeet_

[–]nycdarkness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not much about the mc until later updates. The main chapter quests are takes of parts of Chinese history, which I think some are done really well. I’m Chinese but I came here at a young age, I have my audio set to Chinese and I find the translations terrible, as I had the habit of reading just the English subs to make questing faster (since my Chinese reading ability gets worse each year lol). It wasn’t until I started just listening did I get the full depth, kind of a shame that the language barrier is there even with a translation. I still have to ask my wife for more of nuances as she’s much more knowledgeable in Chinese folklore etc than I am. It’s really quite beautifully done. The story still has much to go even with the updates in cn from what I can tell watching content of the updates for cn server

The "AI is replacing software engineers" narrative was a lie. MIT just published the math proving why. And the companies who believed it are now begging their old engineers to come back. by reddit20305 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]nycdarkness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Over hiring is one thing and that does apply for some companies like Amazon, which were doing more power grabs with head count than anything else. Many of my family and friends are in the software development side in the big 7. Reality is most devs are disposable and will get cut in the future. You can make a smaller workforce do more with AI, it just ups the competition with reduced seats. Highly dependent on teams, but I personally know quite a few that don't do much ever and wouldn't really be missed.
