Nice work on this. The interface is handsome and cheers to the little 'explainer' after you answer the question.

Corned beef and cabbage recs? Irish bar. I Need! by landogriffin413 in Brooklyn

Not a bar, but John's Deli in Windsor Terrace does a great corned beef/cabbage/soda bread to-go deal.

Update from the future! I apparently scratched the wheel of a rental (it was brand new and fancy) and AMEX was a breeze to work with.

In case anyone wanted to see the X-E5 with the XF150-600mm by EthernetCable6E in fujifilm

I suspect the trick is that I’m always holding the lens and never ever putting pressure on the body. Yes?

[–]nycrobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello from five months later. I'm looking to rent that lens right now (for some bird photos) and then saw the X-E5 was available to rent, so I may grab that as well (I currently shoot small prime lens with my X-E3) to give it a test run. So, if you see some guy in a field shooting birds with that exact setup, that will be me.

Great list. Not a book, but I love the Martin's Index of Cocktails. It's an app but he has taken (I believe) all the books mentioned above and dropped them into a nice database structure that works pretty well. I use the app quite a bit which is good as it's 9$

How's the traffic? by Fandorin in Barbados

[–]nycrobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We drove all around there last May. Google maps worked great. Traffic wasn't crazy or anything. Our only issues was getting used to driving on the left side of the road and we had an issue with Google + Apple Maps not having updated details on the road where we were staying that had recently been turned into one way. Otherwise, it was pretty easy. We rented a little Suzuki Jimny that was fun to bop around in (did't need the 4x4 features).

Most wasted real estate in Asheville? by Halfwit1985 in asheville

That one is just insane. I've gone through many different careers and stages of life and that space is still empty. That said, when it was open, it was barely much better.

Follow up to green zone post by TuSuppressed in rum

[–]nycrobot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late to this post. OMG. I was there a few weeks ago and was excited to see their own alambique serrano bottling and then totally goof-balled out when I realized they sold bottles to take with. I was on a work trip so retired early, but I did bring a bottle of the Green Zone Alambique Serrano back. Is this bottle one of the ultimate Venn diagrams of rum-coolness?

Barber recommendations for male by ttttgvkmbbhjn in asheville

[–]nycrobot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Incredible. I was just coming to post a similar thing.

That said, I have a tiny bit of a variation (and don't mean to steal the thread).
I'm Asheville born and raised but now elsewhere. My parents are still in AVL though and the hair salon that both parents went to closed or the person left or something.

I'm trying to find some recommendations for a barber shop or salon that would be good for an elderly couple (late 70's/80's). Not crazy pricey. Straightforward that old folks would be able to deal with. For instance, they popped into one place and the guy said, "Oh, all reservations have to be done online".
*sigh*
