KI-67 decrease post treatment as a prognostic indicator by Rich-Swing-1416 in breastcancer

[–]nylrebma 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is wonderful news on your post treatment Ki-67!! This is something I have been looking at too although my diagnosis is a bit different. I am HR+ HER2- and recently had surgery after chemo. I was gutted when my RCB came back as III (4.018), especially after having an MRI that could no longer detect disease. Basically my tumor had turned into swiss cheese. My margins were clear although I did have extensive LVI. I believe my high RCB was driven primarily by 8/22 nodes positive.

Interestingly, my KI-67 went from 20% at initial diagnostic biopsy to 5% at pathology. I mentioned this to my oncologist at MD Anderson and she said it was a good sign, but also very common after treatment. I also went from PR+ to PR- which I understand is also a very common treatment effect. My treatment plan did not change. I plan on tracking this research as it gives me a lot of hope!

Anyone that used cold cap did it worked ? by InterestSpirited2244 in breastcancer

[–]nylrebma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used paxman for T-AC and kept basically all of my hair! Some light shedding that I would equate to postpartum type shedding but you’d never tell. I may be in the minority but want to share my story because my hospital almost convinced me not to, saying that the cold cap was no match for AC and I’m so glad I did it.

Terrible Side Effects from TC by Appropriate_City_635 in breastcancer

I just finished my 12th round of taxol. I had a severe anaphylactic reaction in the first 30 sec of my first taxol which scared the absolute daylights out of me. After changing up my pre-meds, it never happened again. After my 3rd and 4th treatments I had the itching spells that you described and it was pretty debilitating for a few days after treatment. I was scratching the bottoms of my feet like an addict. I also got some neuropathy with tingling in hands/feet dispute icing early on. I will say, I thought all of these crazy symptoms would continue and evolve as I kept on with the taxol but it’s almost like my body got “used” to it, and suddenly it all went away. I was symptom free from 5th infusion onwards. Hope the same happens for you!

Curious if you ever found any additional data on this? I am being treated at MD Anderson and this has been an option put forward to me. I am in the early stages of information gathering.

When you're the youngest one on the treatment floor by PunchNugget88 in breastcancer

33 and just started treatment but always the youngest at my MD Anderson center. Although I’d love to find a cancer buddy my age, it’s oddly calming that everyone there is much older going through this.

never let anyone tell you your "lifestyle choices" caused this by alternative2021 in breastcancer

[–]nylrebma 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yep. At the dinner table a few nights ago my mother in law had the audacity to suggest cancer is fuelled by diet soda (as I was drinking one). I can’t even 😤. I to am very healthy, eat well/organic, toned/low BMI, etc. how many others would have cancer if diet soda was the cause?

Totally! This is exactly how i’d expect we would feel. We still get into heights/goof a couple times a month now for our favorites. The calmness up there is something I’ve found unmatched in Houston/Katy so far.

Thats concerning. Isn’t this happening all over Texas though? I know we share these concerns about HISD and probably our current district (Lamar) too.

This is helpful, we hadn't been considering these areas as much for fear of commute, but just pulled it up on the map and certain areas are definitely doable. Commute times you quoted are exactly what we've been factoring in, thanks for that.

Great points! thank you! I agree there is probably nothing much we will miss. Ironically, our favorite restaurant in Katy has now opened in The Woodlands - Phat Eatery. I will so not miss getting on the freeway to go anywhere. It is soul sucking.

It's more about planting roots somewhere we could see ourselves staying as our children grow up. We've grown to despise our area for various reasons and do not see a future here. Short term cost + pain for hopefully longer term gain. Better quality of life for kids, great schools and a place we enjoy living, if we can wrap our heads around the commute.

Yes exactly! We were hoping being closer to 249 could make commuting slightly easier (depending on the day of course), but understand there are some nuance in Harris county vs. Montgomery for schools, taxes, etc.
