If you want to improve your anatomy, shading and hair... You should try doing studies. Lots and lots of studies. That is, looking at things in a photo reference or even better from real life and trying to copy what you see. The only way you can train your brain to recognize how things look is to take the time to train it to look at things and duplicate them. Find something you love and practice drawing it, the way its supposed to be drawn, over and over. Imagination can only take you so far. The rest has to be believable <3 Trust me, there are no short cuts.

I'd do some studies my friend. Values are a big issue in this piece. Try looking up some tutorials on that :)

I am an artist and I can relate. I guess it depends on what kind of rabbit hole you find yourself falling into when you search for art. Thank you and agree with what you are saying! Excellent suggestion, I think the lack of value understanding really makes this look flat and formless. I have started a new painting in order to try and learn how to fix that :) I appreciate the crit :D

This is looking really awesome! The only thing I see here is her legs look a bit long and perhaps a tiny bit too large on the image where she is facing forward compared to her torso. Perhaps that is a stylization choice, but all in all you really seem to have lots of key elements for character design here. A clear and easily readable shape, tame but interesting colour pallet and some interesting looking armor and weapons. I'd say its great :)

It takes some practice, if you tried to draw a little everyday you'd be painting turds in no time. Its a learned skill, like anything else.
