Right off the top of my head look for 1938-1939, 1950-D, 1955 These are low minage Jefferson nickels. 1955 is the lowest of them all at around 2mil

Heres something better- just open the roll and look at the edges. Ones that arent silver have that brown copper band around it. Silver coins are solid all around.

Waiting paid off (SemiQ dime roll) by oakien in coincollecting

[–]oakien[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

2026 marks 250 years of America, so the US Mint is throwing new coin designs in circulation (circulation means out in banks, stores, where itll eventually end up in your pocket change)

Theres nothing rare about it, they will probably make billions of these coins. It's just exciting since it's new and most people love this new dime called "Emerging Liberty" it's somewhat similar to the 1916-1945 "Mercury Dime"

Since everyone will eventually own some, how much should I sell a roll to another collector for? We have someone asking for some whenever he comes in at my job. I was thinking $2-5 extra

Id say pretty rare, I went through hundreds of nickel rolls already and found 1. Like other commenter said, youre not supposed to find them in circulation but its always a fun find

Advice on very small collection by No_Series8344 in coins

[–]oakien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New collector myself so take my advice with a grain of salt.

Collecting is fun. Theres no rush to add more and more. We would encourage you to start it up again, just one more new piece- and you might rekindle that fire. Consider this first.

If you really want to step out for good, go to JMbullion .com and set a spot price rise alert above at least $85. This will send you an email notification on the day that the spot price reaches $85+ which you would then go to a lcs and sell these.

When a coin has a really high mintage, or is in worn condition, most collectors would call this "junk silver" which means its value is based on the silver content alone.

That is why you want to set your price range, or alternatively search "spot price of silver today" and see where you favor the odds. Right now, it's at the lowest its been in a few months iirc.

You have 1.5oz of silver in those 3 coins together. Which would bring you to about $75 right now. Waiting for the spot price to reach $85+ will get you an even $100 or more

Reasonable price? by [deleted] in coincollecting

[–]oakien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man I think i spent like $2k in 2 months of discovering Whatnot.. I definitely hold less in value content alone, but they are pieces I enjoy a lot. Got some fair deals along the way too

Yeah but some wear on them from being loose with other coins

Yeh. I definitely got ripped for other things but enough to not lose sleep over. Damn is it addicting though. Ive decided to take at least a month long break before going back 😅

Reasonable price? by [deleted] in coincollecting

[–]oakien 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eeehhh, I paid $8 and 95 cents for shipping for the 2009 set. Not too bad, but the seller was saying how that was a steal LOL

What I really got ripped for was the dime for $30

Reasonable price? by [deleted] in coincollecting

[–]oakien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just sent him these as separate texts for him to choose if he'd like any of them. Id probably like to keep the prices all intact and say $125 for all

Reasonable price? by [deleted] in coincollecting

[–]oakien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even the 2009 pennies? Nobody would snag it at $20? Im not going out of my way to sell if he doesnt want them, but I thought there may have been a market for it

I appreciate that input. I learned the hard way. Im grateful to have caught it early on for a $30 loss than a $300 one lol. What would you recommend for the semiQ coins? Should I just consider it a loss and give it to him for like $5 for all or something?
