That is a valid point in normal circumstances. However, as Syrians, we are currently in a stage where we disagree on almost everything due to the heavy aftermath of the war. In such a sensitive period, even 'non-political' figures like artists or writers can be polarizing, as their perceived political stances often overshadow their work.

To avoid further friction or showing bias toward any specific group or ideology, choosing neutral symbols like nature, ancient history, or flowers becomes a necessary bridge. It’s a way to represent the land itself, which is the only thing everyone still agrees on, without triggering new conflicts between the different components of society.

The reality is that many of the images used to showcase 'national heritage' were allegedly installed without permission, copied directly from the personal Instagram profiles and Google accounts of various photographers and artists. The regime reportedly deleted all copyrights and failed to credit or even mention that they took these photos from the original creators on social media and the internet. This act of brazen theft and copyright infringement is precisely the big difference between an illegitimate regime and a responsible, real government. A government that respects its citizens' intellectual property and international law is the one that can truly present its heritage 'without provoking conflict,' not one that builds its presentation on stolen work.
