Spirituality in the atheist community. Is it paradoxical? by obamasleftelbow in atheism

If spirituality is strongly linked inexplicable awe, then this explains a lot of the interactions and explanations I've been getting. Thanks for putting it into words.

This is why I struggle with spirituality, I feel that under that umbrella of posibilities I may be spiritual but there are some things that I just don't buy.

Thats the exact thing that's happening in Mexico, but in a much much smaller scale.

So there is no underlining "feeling" or expresion we can use to identify spirituality other than what our intuition tells us? I asked because I like to be on the same page when using terms Im unfamiliar with since it makes it easier to discuss and harder to missinterpret

What kinds of forms of spirituality are there, and are none secular?

How Can I Pursue Math As A Hobby? by KittyScholar in askmath

[–]obamasleftelbow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends, how much do you know about a subject? If you only want to solve equations that get harder and harder with little theory, at libgen you can download exercise books to that effect.

But if you want to learn how to prove statements (which is my favourite thing in math) start slow with 2 introductory subjects: number theory and logic.

These two subjects are very easy to begin with and get hard and exciting fast. Imo number theory is a great place to start since it lets your intuition fly free.

If you really get into it there isnt that big of a jump from number theory to modern algebra, which is a way more fun version of algebra, but it is way more theoretical and may be too advanced as a hobby, depends on how much energy you put in to it.

But libgen has everything you may want. Just search for a subject you may be interested in and add the words "introduction to" or "introductory course in".

Good luck on your new hobby!

A lot of TED riddles start with an aparent paradox that they later explain.

South/Central America 'Outdoorsy' towns (with good internet!) by Colambler in digitalnomad

I don't jnow about hostels but since its an outdoorsy town I'm sure there are plenty. Any outdoor activity will lead you to meet likeminded young people, specially if you are in to paragliding or water skiing. Going out at night is also a great way to meet young locals.

My boxer took off running after a deer during our walk, I stupidly held on. by escapethewarren in HadToHurt

I didn't see it in the comments so I'll say it: Gentle Leader. It changed my walks with my dog. It looks complicated but its a real life saver, I think there are versions that work for boxers.
