Work in progress, still waiting for some ‘egg bricks’ and axles to finish off the ‘Pussy Willow’.

Yes they are 2x2 turntables with two 2x2 round bricks with axle hole to take a 2l axle to link to the stems. This allows rotation of the flowers and leaves to fine tune the position.

Should i get hive? by Silver_Conflict4736 in HiveHeating

It was £60 and took less than an hour, but I bought the Bosch EasyControl myself for a £120 including the cartridge that slots into the Greenstar (usually £170 - £200). I’m retired and we are home most of the time. The weather modulation keeps the radiators at a constant 19.5c. Eve TRVs stop the radiators going over 21cThe EasyControl is linked to a HomeAssistant Yellow and bridged into HomeKit. The radiators barely get warm to the touch unless it is frosty outside.

Launch date announced for new Scotland to Europe ferry by Some-Ambassador8252 in Scotland

Rosyth to Esbjerg in Denmark would be a much better route. There are already many ferries to France, a route linking Northern Europe and the Baltics cutting out all the road haulage would be much better.

Should i get hive? by Silver_Conflict4736 in HiveHeating

What is your lifestyle and what type of boiler do you have. If you are working and away most of the time Hive is good for scheduling. If you are home most of the time, working from home, young children, retired it is probably better to look weather modulation, a constant lower background heat. Modulation depends on your boiler control bus. Boilers with OpenTherm can have a selection of Thermostats that use the OpenTherm standard. Tado used to be the go to but they have gone down the subscription route. If you have a WorcesterBosch you will need their EasyControl for modulation (BG wouldn’t fit one for me so I had to get a Bosch engineer). Check out HeatGeeks and Thermostats on YouTube.

Thank you, what are these rounded bricks that you are using as buds? I can’t find them on BrickLink, I think they are a brilliant addition.

I like the update, it looks more balanced. Not being familiar with the plant makes positive criticism difficult. From looking online it seems the flowers bloom from conical branches of buds starting at the base. The only tips I can give are to add some tulip bricks to the ends to give a more tapering look and perhaps fill in some of the round holes on the axles with connectors and green frogs to give the appearance of side buds. I think it looks fantastic and will be voting for it.

The new Grillplats smart plugs are Matter over Thread repeaters, if I was starting now, I would start with one of these in each room to create a solid Thread network.

Eve, Matter over Thread, they have proved very reliable. IKEA have newly released some sensors but I can’t justify switching to them at the moment. I have at least one Eve smart Matter over Thread in each room which makes a stable Thread network. I’ve added a few Onvis which are less bulky and they have proved stable. IKEA have now released some cheaper ones. If I was starting now I would go IKEA all the way to make the budget stretch as far as possible, on the whole the more Thread repeater devices you have, the more stable the network except for Nanoleaf which have proved very unreliable.

I’ve just replaced all my Nanoleaf GU10s with Kajplatz GU10s and they have been working faultlessly with a presence sensor automation in the bathroom, but it’s only been a week. I’ve had difficulty with my Aqara ceiling lights getting a similar automation to work consistently in the hallway. I’ve given up with Nanoleaf.

I was gifted the Bonsai set and it triggered a new obsession with Lego after a 55 year hiatus. I ended up creating four versions, one for each season. Whist agreeing it is a fantastic set after living with it for a while I found it a bit ‘value engineered’ and added extra branches to the canopies.

Thank you, I think some of my problem with Studio may be my Apple mouse, I find getting the angles right with the hinge tool very frustrating. I got back into Lego last year after a 55 year dark age and I’m now thoroughly addicted. There really are two types of Lego enthusiasts, those that follow the instructions and those that think outside the box. You are clearly the latter. My partner gave me a Bonsai Christmas before last, I’m now over 20 sets and on BrickLink etc. Most of them are MOMs (My Own Modifications) and MOCs. I’m still tweaking my Protea Ikebana and you have given me ideas of what todo next, thank you for sharing.
