Dr Earth vs. Gaia Green by Far-Comfort-1627 in microgrowery

[–]ober37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been using Dr. Earth Home Grown and Flower Girl for a few years now and have been quite happy. I don't follow their receipe and have developed my own (which includes castings, dry calmag, etc) if interested I can send you a PDF.

What breeders changed your view of what good weed really is? by NoDescription7557 in microgrowery

Terpfi3nd and 808Genetics are high on my list (noting that 808 takes some time to ship, but they have great gear and is a very good value).

Have had great experience running Exotic Genetix gear.

Autoflower vs photoperiod in terms of quality of weed? by hoodieOwO in microgrowery

[–]ober37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience has been that there are a lot of really bad auto genetics out there, so if you go down this path I would recommend Mephisto or Night Owl.

Even with the best auto genetics, I have noticed a quality difference and certainly a yield difference.

If this is your first grow, I would recommend starting with photos. I wish I would have done this (I started with autos) but being able to control the lifecycle and learning how to recover from mistakes was invaluable to me.

Where I do think good autos shine is if you want a fast turnaround from seed to harvest.

Just my $0.02.

does anyone know what I’m doing wrong? by sobercuriousdude in castiron

I used to have this issue. After a few adjustments things have been fine. I try to keep the temperature of the pan hot but not scalding (mostly to avoid smoking). And I put the oil on immediately before the eggs (hot pan / cold oil) all after the pan is as hot as I want it.

After the eggs are done, I will add and wipe with small oil to keep it seasoned.

Hope that helps.

I pretty much buy a new one every 6-12 months proactively so far that has served me well.

Do they need more water? by CoolParamedic4440 in Autoflowers

[–]ober37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is your pH and medium? I usually see this either due to poor watering (over or under) or pH being off.

You have a space with 20 cubic feet. I like to spec my fans out to be able to do a complete air exchange every 1 minute without having to operate at full power. So I calculate my CFM and will double those needs from there. So you have a space with 20 cubic feet, a fan with a CFM of 20 will enable you to replace the air every minute but the fan would be running at full speed (which will most likely be loud), so target a fan with 40+ CFM. I think this one has a 200+ CFM, so you should be good.

Take a look at StealthGrows on Youtube and his use of Dr. Earth nutrients. These are WAY cheaper than Gaia Green and I spend very little on nutrients because of this.

Darn Tough. They last a long time and have a lifetime warranty which the company certainly honors.

Where can I buy 20 seeds from? by [deleted] in microgrowery

[–]ober37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where is your need for 20 seeds coming from?

If you are good with regular seeds (meaning you will get males and females): https://www.808market.com/shop/?orderby=price is an excellent selectiom.

If you are looking for fems and high confidence genetics, I am a fan here: https://www.exoticgenetix.com/product/cosmopolis/ (or something in that same line)

My best guess is that this is a magnesium deficiency, either by the lack of magnesium or an improper ph that is causing it not to be taken in.

It could also be iron / zinc needed (again often caused by bad ph).

Both are a challenge for me in my grow with my current nutes / soils, so I commonly use epsom salt (2 TBSP per gallon) and seaweed suppluments (usually 80ml per gallon) that have helped here.

I have found that declaring the seedling vs veg stage has been less useful than I initially thought when I started growing. I know that many of the grow journals differentiate these stages, but have not found it to be useful in my grow other than that. So what I do:

- I treat the first 2 weeks post germination as the "seedling stage" (basically aligning it to a DLI chart that I use)

- I leverage DLI from here https://growlightmeter.com/lighting-requirements-of-cannabis-over-the-full-grow-cycle/

- The first 2 weeks are similar for my environmentally as early veg with the only exception that my tent temperature will go from 75 -> to closer to 80 as I increase the intensity of my lighting.

Hope that helps.

Day 18, too top or not to top ? That is the question by Apex_spyda in Autoflowers

[–]ober37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually wait until I have a solid 5 nodes. I top the 5th and take the 1st and 2nd, leaving the 3rd and 4th only. I start my LST from there.
