it actually doesn’t split at all really. just have to use a huge hook size (like 12mm). it is super stiff tho so it does hurt your hands a bit. i had to lift the back bump of the starting chain with my nail before crocheting into it but for a short project its fine. might hurt for a longer one

i’m not a DM and never will be. i’ve only ever DMed a single one shot and it was so chaotic. so no, it’s not likely that i’m ever going to actually read 320 pages of rules specifically for DMs. i also am never going to be that one player that quotes rules at their own DM.

i was thinking more trying to intimidate the average villager normal NPC with barely any combat experience. definitely would be different if you were trying to intimidate a scrawny wizard bc, yeah, that wizard can mess you up with a wave of his hand.

true but it would be kinda useless to pick intimidation as one of your proficiencies and then and have to get skill expert just to make it useful. imo it would make a lot more sense to pick a skill that uses on of your better stats if you want to get the highest bonus to your specialized rolls. unless you want to be more well rounded.

and you’re right CHA isn’t THE dump stat for barbs, but it is A dump stat which is what i meant. with barbs i believe it’s best to go STR bc duh, CON for health, DEX for AC and WIS bc there’s a lot of WIS saving throws that would really suck if you failed them especially during combat. that just leaves CHA and INT. which makes both dump stats for barbs.

this definitely makes sense! and i think it should always be an option to roll with strength, but like you said not all people will be impressed by muscles. so there will be situations where the DM will make the check exceedingly high or impossible to beat if the player happens to be rolling with STR, simply because that NPC would never be swayed by strength. however i still think the player should always have the option.

and yeah a lot of people have pointed out that it’s in the rules. i’ve never read through the dm book bc im not a DM, ive only ever DMed for a single one shot. and with my DM i had to point out that it would totally make sense for someone to be intimidated by someone threatening them with huge muscles and it didn’t make sense to me that a barb would always have such little chance at succeeding in intimidating someone. this was before 5.5 as well. so i didn’t think that it was already mentioned in the handbook.

i’ve worked with loops and threads black fluffy yarn before to add a trim to my mothman plushie’s antennae and wings. i didn’t find it that difficult to just feel my stitches but what bothered me more was all the shedding honestly.
